YOLo Y!

FEATURE STORY

A

t the start of the school year, around 80 students were given invitations to join a new organization. The organization seemed top secret and it got the students curious. During their first orientation, it was revealed that the new organization would be a pioneering leadership programme for a very select group of students in YPICA. Dubbed as Young Outstanding Leaders of YPICA or YOLo Y, the students who showed up with their orientation were called YOLo Y Recruits. The recruits have started their training and each activity they complete will advance them closer to the final stage of the recruitment process. From the 80 initial participants, the organization has now selected 40 candidates who will undergo several tasks to prove their dedication to the organization. Needless to say, YOLo Y is looking for smart, active, motivated, creative, responsible, resourceful, caring, and dedicated students who have the passion to make a positive contribution to our community. The recruits have done teambuilding and problem-solving activities, as well as journalism training which will be an essential skill in the next phase of the programme. An Ocean Park trip and an overnight camp had to be put on hold due to Covid-19 restrictions but once things go back to normal, YOLo Y promises more activities outside the school. Out-of-town trips are also in the works. While the organization is very strict and selective in their recruitment process, interested students are encouraged to have a positive attitude and wait for the next round of applications.
