A View From The Club Thank you all for joining us for our 4th of July Celebration this past month. We’ve received some great feedback on the food and fireworks this year and have already started discussing how we can make next year even better. We had great crowds during the day and hope that you’ve been able to enjoy the photos and videos on our Facebook page. Towards the end of July, we also introduced a new event to the Club, “Get the Golf Outta Here!” In its debut, we had over 60 people to complete six holes of golf while playing football, softball, lacrosse, hockey, soccer, and of course Frisbee. Everyone had a great time and we are looking forward to this being a recurring event. If you haven’t seen it yet, please enjoy the video that was posted to YouTube and available through our Facebook account. While some of you might be working your way through Back to School shopping lists, the Club is still in full swing this month. Starting off the month is the Annual Couples Invitational Golf Tournament on August 7-9. The following two weeks will feature the Men’s Club Championship (August 15-16) and the Women’s Club Championship (August 22-23). For more details and to sign-up, please contact a member of the Golf Staff to take your shot at joining our rich history of SCC Champions! We also have two new events coming up this month. On August 21st we are inviting you to join us in the Grill Room for “A Taste of Honolulu”. SCC will take a culinary journey to the Hawaiian Islands featuring several different types of fish flown in directly from Honolulu. This will be our dinner special, so reservations are encouraged. We then round out the month with a Parents Night out on August 28th. Provided that Mother Nature plays along this time, the party will take place poolside starting at 6PM. An event just for the grown-ups, be sure to sign the kiddos up for Movie Night where we will be showing a double feature so that you can enjoy the party even longer! Lastly, with school returning to session this month, the Pool and Snack Bar hours of operation will also be adjusted. Starting August 11, the Pool and Snack Bar will be open from 4PM to 7PM Monday – Friday, 10AM to 6PM on Saturday and Sundays.

Thank you all for your continued support of the Club! Ryan

The Message Wow! July flew by! August brings us into Club Championships! Me, coming from a Golf background, I love this time of year. New this month was our 1st ever “Get The Golf Outta Here” event. We had over 60 players participate and we had a blast! This was so much fun we will be doing it again very soon! Keep your eyes open for announcements. (Pictures to the right) Along with a new event, many of you have probably noticed a few visually appealing changes to the club. First, we have updated the ladies Locker Room with a new, overdue, television and HD Cable. Also, we have taken out the Calendar that was in the main entrance and replaced it with a new Digital Board (its basically a television turned side ways). We will be using this to keep you up-to-date on all of the upcoming news. Make sure you’re checking it. On August 28th we will be having an “Adult Only” Pool Party from 6pm9pm. We will have music, food, and fun down by the pool. We will be showing a double feature that night for the kids to enjoy while the parents get out and have some fun. For food we will have a Raw Bar and serving Viva Las Vegas Rolls, Crab Legs, and more! Jason Also, you will notice the Newsletter has a new look this month. Let me know your opinions! We are always looking to improve and make things even better!

Mike’s Minute FLASHBACK.... It was 10 years ago this month that we undertook a major renovation on the golf course to replace the often bumpy Poa filled greens with a relatively new variety developed at Penn State. After a great deal of research and visits to turf trials we selected the variety known as "A4" which has gone on to become one of the types that all others are judged by. It was selected for many reasons but it's drought tolerance, disease resistance, upright growth habit and dense canopy made it the best selection to help protect the investment and keep the greens Poa free that really sold me. Because of these traits, we are able to maintain them in ways that greatly discourages Poa from even establishing. This, along with some proven maintenance practices the putting surfaces remain some of the very best around. See you on the course! Mike

Inside the Lines Jr. Tennis wrapped up on Friday, July 17th. I want to thank the parents for their ongoing support of our program. This was our largest Junior Camp ever! Awesome! Even though Junior Tennis is over, the courts are always available for your use! Get the kids up here and keep working on those skills we practiced throughout camp. Maybe they can show mom and dad a thing or two. I want to encourage any woman who is interested in getting involved in tennis to check out our Ladies Association. We hit every Wednesday morning throughout the year from 8:30am until 9:30am. We even hit indoors when it is cold. Again, thanks you for allowing me to be the Tennis Pro - I love my job. Bob

The Setup A lot of exciting news! New Menus and FRESH FISH! We have rolled out our new menu featuring our fresh fish items that we are flying in from Hawaii. I personally have done business with Honolulu fish co. for over 10 years and when it comes to high quality fresh fish these guys can’t be beat. We have had numerous compliments on our New Fresh Menu items created by Chef Nic, so I would personally like to invite you in for dinner. The truly great story with this is we are able to bring in these great products without passing off the extra charges to our Members. As we are closing out another busy month here in F&B some highlights for next month. We are starting to work on the wine menu and putting together a special menu, showcasing Honolulu Fish Company where you will have the chance to sample some of the unique fish that come out of Hawaii. Thanks and enjoy the rest of the summer Justin
