Culver’s Opens Its First Restaurant in
Warner Robins
The first Culver’s restaurant in Warner Robins has officially opened at 780 Ga. 96, bringing the well-known fast-casual chain to the city. The business is owned by Gary and Evan Huffman, a father-and-son team who worked for years to make this opening a reality.
The Huffman family first discovered Culver’s while living in Noblesville, Indiana. After moving to Cordele, Georgia, they began considering opening their own restaurant. Gary Huffman committed to the idea five years ago, and his son, Evan Huffman, joined the project two years ago, forming Huffman Hospitality.
Evan Huffman, who previously worked in agriculture and served as a U.S. Marine field artillery officer, now manages daily operations. His mother, Mary Ann Huffman, is also involved in the business.
A New Option in Warner Robins
The 4,000-square-foot restaurant sits on 1.5 acres, next to Peachtree Immediate Care in The Shoppes at Houston Lake. It features indoor seating for 77 guests, a pet-friendly patio with space for 23 guests, and a double-lane drive-thru for added convenience.
Culver’s Continues to Grow in Georgia
Founded in 1984 in Sauk City, Wisconsin, Culver’s has expanded to more than 1,100 locations across 26 states. The Warner Robins restaurant is the 1,112th Culver’s location and the second in Middle Georgia, following the opening of a Macon location in 2021. Culver’s in Warner Robins is open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The Otis Redding Center for the Arts (ORCA) has officially opened in Macon, Georgia, marking a milestone in arts education for youth aged 5 to 18.
Spanning 15,000 square feet of state-of-the-art facilities, ORCA features seven creative labs, five private lesson rooms, an amphitheater, and the O3 Recording Studio, named in honor of Otis Redding III. Its curriculum covers both the artistic and business aspects of the music industry, including performance, production, sound engineering, graphic design, and entertainment law.
ORCA is the realization of a lifelong vision by Zelma Redding, widow of the legendary artist, and the Otis Redding Foundation, dedicated to education and youth development. “This was a dream my husband and I shared, and seeing it come to life is beyond words”, she stated.
Beyond his musical career, Otis Redding was a visionary dedicated to education and community support. Through his foundation, he funded scholarships, supported school initiatives, and hosted summer camps for underserved youth. Since his passing in 1967, his family has worked to continue his mission, ensuring his impact endures for future generations. Honoring his legacy, Otis Redding received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2024, and his story will soon hit the big screen with the upcoming film Otis & Zelma, currently in pre-production.

More than 10,000 visitors from across the Southeastern U.S. gathered for the Perry International Festival 2025, an event filled with vibrant energy, international cuisine, and cultural performances.
The festival, held in historic downtown Perry, offered a unique experience where attendees enjoyed live music, traditional dances, and a diverse selection of global dishes.
“Multicultural Performances”: Artists from various nationalities took the main stage, featuring music and dance from Mexico, Germany, Peru, the Caribbean, and more. Flavors of the World: One of the festival’s biggest highlights was the international food stands, offering everything from tacos and empanadas to schnitzel and exotic desserts.
Bloktoberfest & Special Exhibits: In the afternoon, visitors enjoyed the beer celebration, while exhibits on Día de los Muertos and Native American history provided an enriching educational experience.

Después de casi una década, Warner Robins volvió a ser sede de un torneo de softbol de lanzamiento lento.
El softbol de lanzamiento lento está regresando con fuerza a Warner Robins.
One Nation Slowpitch organizó el torneo International City Money Mayhem, el primero de su tipo en la ciudad en casi diez años. Jesse Marks, organizador del torneo, destacó la importancia del softbol en Georgia.
“En los años 90, eventos como el torneo Flag City reunían a más de 400 equipos. Era parte de nuestra cultura. Lamentablemente, el interés decayó en los 2000, pero estamos trabajando para reconstruirlo”, afirmó Marks.
SOFTBOL CON PROPÓSITO
El torneo arrancó el viernes 14 de marzo con un partido benéfico entre el Ejército de EE.UU. y la Fuerza Aérea, seguido de un derbi de jonrones. Los fondos recaudados fueron donados a Rainbow House, una organización de Warner Robins que ayuda a niños en crisis.
El sábado 15 de marzo, el evento principal reunió a jugadores y aficionados de 9 a. m. a 9 p. m. en un ambiente familiar con food trucks, vendedores locales y actividades comunitarias.
Marks y su equipo planean hacer de estos torneos un evento mensual, expandiendo la participación en el centro de Georgia.
“El softbol de lanzamiento lento fomenta la camaradería. Es un deporte que puedes seguir practicando toda la vida, creando lazos y experiencias únicas”, expresó Marks. After nearly a decade, Warner Robins once again hosted a slowpitch softball tournament.
SOFTBALL WITH A PURPOSE
Slowpitch softball is making a strong comeback in Warner Robins. One Nation Slowpitch hosted the International City Money Mayhem, the city’s first sanctioned event of its kind in nearly ten years.
Tournament organizer Jesse Marks highlighted the sport’s deep roots in Georgia.
“In the 90s, tournaments like Flag City brought in over 400 teams. Softball was a huge part of our culture. Sadly, interest declined in the 2000s, but we’re working to rebuild it,” Marks said.
A BRIGHT FUTURE FOR SOFTBALL IN GEORGIA
The tournament kicked off on Friday, March 14, with a charity game between the U.S. Army and the Air Force, followed by a home run derby. Proceeds were donated to Rainbow House, a Warner Robins-based organization that supports children in crisis.
On Saturday, March 15, the main event ran from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., drawing players and spectators to an exciting, familyfriendly environment featuring food trucks, local vendors, and community activities.
Marks and his team plan to make these tournaments a monthly event, increasing participation across Central Georgia.
“Slowpitch softball builds camaraderie. It’s a sport you can play for a lifetime, creating bonds and unique experiences,” Marks said.
With renewed enthusiasm and strong community support, One Nation Slowpitch is working to reestablish Warner Robins as a competitive softball hub.

The measure aims to enhance public safety and streamline the identification of undocumented immigrants with criminal records.
In mid-March, Governor Brian Kemp has ordered the training of 1,100 state officers under the 287(g) program, in collaboration with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). This initiative strengthens the state’s ability to identify and detain undocumented immigrants considered a public safety risk.
The 287(g) program, established in 1996, allows ICE to delegate specific immigration enforcement functions to state and local officers.
“If you are in our country illegally and commit crimes, you have no place in Georgia,” Kemp
stated. “This measure helps law enforcement keep our communities safe.”
Increased ICE cooperation
The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) already participates in the 287(g) program under the Jail Enforcement Model. ICE recently requested two additional corrections officers to assist in the deportation of criminal undocumented immigrants, with 1,730 inmates currently under ICE detainers. Meanwhile, the Department of Public Safety (DPS) has submitted a Memorandum of
Agreement (MOA) to join ICE’s 287(g) Task Force Model, enabling faster responses during traffic operations and arrests.
“We take the safety of Georgians very seriously. This training will improve our response capabilities and interagency collaboration,” said DPS Director Colonel Billy Hitchens. The 287(g) program will allow state officers to access ICE data, enhancing their ability to act quickly in detentions and inspections across the state.

The City of Tifton and the Tifton-Tift County Tourism Association have started construction on a new amphitheater at Fulwood Park, replacing the aging structure that could not be restored.
Demolition began in March, and Barber Contracting Company is overseeing the new construction. The project is expected to be completed by August 14, 2025, with final inspections set for September.

Tifton construye un nuevo anfiteatro en Fulwood Park
La Ciudad de Tifton y la Asociación de Turismo del Condado de Tifton-Tift han iniciado la construcción de un nuevo anfiteatro en Fulwood Park, reemplazando la antigua estructura que ya no podía ser restaurada.
La demolición del escenario anterior comenzó en marzo, y la empresa Barber Contracting Company está a cargo de la construcción del nuevo anfiteatro. Se espera que esté listo el 14 de agosto de 2025, con inspecciones finales programadas para septiembre.
“Originalmente, la idea era renovar el anfiteatro, pero los ingenieros determinaron que su base estaba demasiado deteriorada. Esto nos llevó a construir una

Governor Brian Kemp has appointed Bárbara Rivera Holmes as Georgia’s Department of Labor commissioner, making her the first Hispanic to hold this position. Rivera will assume office on April 4, completing the term of the late Bruce Thompson.

A PROVEN TRACK RECORD IN LEADERSHIP
Rivera Holmes has been instrumental in Georgia’s economic growth. Before leading the Chamber of Commerce, she served as vice president of the Albany-Dougherty Economic Development Commission, focusing on attracting investment and creating jobs.
She has also been a member of the Board of Regents for Georgia’s University System, cochaired the Georgia Innovates Task Force, and was recently appointed by Governor Kemp to the House of Representatives Rural Development Council. Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Rivera Holmes is fluent in Spanish and lives in Albany with her husband and daughter.
