A Letter from Father David And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not neglecting to meet together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another‐‐and all the more as you see the Day approaching. (Hebrews 10:24‐25) Dear All Saints’ family,

Volume 10,Number 10

Vision Statement: All Saints’ strives to be a place where people come to know Jesus Christ, are transformed to His glory, and become witnesses to God’s unchangeable word.

I had a man in my parish in California who always bid people goodbye with the phrase; “See you in church”. He was faithful in attendance and in some ways his ‘see you in church’ was a friendly reminder for others to make sure their Sunday mornings began in the house of the Lord. Whenever you see the word ‘church’ in the New Testament it literally refers to the assembly (ecclesia) of God’s people and never a building or structure. Therefore the assembling or gathering of God’s people can take place at any time and in various places. Putting our faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior makes us Christians, assembling together in His name makes us a “Church”. Unfortunately all too often we are faced with the choice to either gather together in Christ’s name or to spend our time doing other things that seem more impor‐ tant. Families are especially confronted with such choices. Nevertheless if we consider ourselves to be part of God’s church then we are charged to “not neglect meeting together as some are in the habit of doing”.

Inside this issue:

In the Book of Acts we learn that the believers devoted themselves to meeting together for the Apostle’s teaching, for fellowship, the breaking of bread, and prayer. These are the very things we promise to do in our baptismal vows. Believ‐ ers didn’t just meet together on Sunday mornings for worship, although that is our first priority, but whenever it was possible to gather. All of the four mentioned aspects of our common life give us occasion to receive Christ into our midst and to build one another up.

At All Saints’ we have ample opportunities on a weekly basis for teaching and learning, fellowship, sharing the Lord’s Supper, and prayer. We also schedule spe‐ cial times for such gatherings such as the Fall Festival, our picnic, shared meals, and musical events. I hope that we don’t just brush them off as unnecessary addi‐ tions to our crowded activities but precious moments when we can spur each other on, enjoy one another’s company, and welcome Christ in our midst. Prior to filling up the days on your calendar check out what is going on at All Saints’. We really miss you when you are not here.

Stewardship Corner Bill and I have been attending All Saints’ Church for about ten years. Over that time we have seen so many wonderful gifts that our church has to offer our church home and community. I have been a witness to the Lord’s never ending love and support for all of us. Now, let me share areas of ministry that recently enriched my life and family. One beautiful gift this church has is the honest belief in the need of individual and group prayer. Let me relate a recent event in my life. About two years ago, our family experienced a scare we never imagined would happen. Our godchild, Brooke, was diagnosed with renal cancer at age 24. The fear of the diagnosis was paralyzing. I was scared and fear took my ability to even pray. It was at that time so many at All Saints’ gathered around. They held me when I cried and prayed when I could not. Soon a prayer shawl was sent from the All Saints’ Prayer Shawl Ministry. Brooke was over‐ whelmed that someone she didn’t know would say a prayer for her with each stitch. God was so gracious to me. I felt His presence so strongly. With all your prayers and Brooke’s faith, surgery went very well. The tumor was removed in one piece and the disease had not spread. The surgeons were baffled as the tests and x‐rays told a different story. The Prayer Shawl Ministry provided a wonderful avenue to witness the hope and comfort of our Lord and Savior. Thank you so much for this amazing ministry. Most of you know that last year my Mother came to live with us at the age of 92. She has dementia and each day is a challenge. Bill and I bring her to church on Sundays and various events. How warm and attentive everyone has been to her. Thank you for those that take the time to sit and talk with her during events and coffee hour. She also attends the Tuesday evening Women’s Bible Study group. Knowing my mother’s special needs, each member has always made Mom feel included. All Saints’ has been blessed with so many wonderful people. Bill and I talk often about how much this church is beginning to impact so many lives as we see the continued growth of our church family. We are all called to continue supporting all ministries of this church. God has also called us to reach outside of our church family and do more outreach in our community and world. Already All Saints’ has affected people halfway around the world in Africa and more recently, Haiti. This outreach and all of the other ministries that we offer will need ongoing financial support and your individual talents to continue. Now to the part I have no trouble sharing….my monetary support of All Saints’. I must admit that when we made a commitment to tithe again this year I was concerned about fulfilling it. Bill was forced into retirement last year and our income was dramatically affected. Then I remembered Father David telling us to put our concerns in God’s hands and He will provide for us. I took that “leap of faith” and never looked back. I feel good that I support all areas of All Saints’ Church so others may benefit like so many of our families have. As we now enter into another Stewardship Campaign, Bill and I invite you to take some time to pray for the many bless‐ ings and areas of ministry in our church that have impacted so many lives. Consider where you would like to participate. Think hard about how your time, talent and pledge will help All Saints’ Church fulfill its purpose in the community and world. Be a part of this future. Join us in supporting All Saints’ Church this year. God Bless, Bobbi Hauck

Reisterstown/Glyndon Community Blood drive

Trunk or treat

The next blood drive will be Saturday, October 23 from 7:45 am to 1:45pm, in Fellowship Hall at Reisterstown United Methodist Church, 246 Main Street. Schedule your donation with our sponsor, Meagan Thomas at 443‐527‐3342.

Sunday, October 31st from 5:00 ‐ 6:30pm, Youth for Truth will host the popular “Trunk or Treat”. All ages are invited to come for fun games, activities and refreshments. Afterwards, the con‐ gregation will have their trunks ready for treat delivery. Bring your families and neighbors. And remember, wear your non‐scary costume and decorate your auto trunk! Top voted trunk wins the big prize. Bring lots of treats to hand out to the kids **cough “Heidi” cough** If you don't have a car to decorate, claim your spot in the parking lot with a chair and go crazy!

Take this job and leaf it... Save the Date: Saturday, Novem‐ ber 20th we will once again rake, blow, sweep and any other method available, gather our leaves and dispose of them. As we did last year, we will bag or haul away the leaves ourselves in order to save money on disposal. I en‐ courage as many parishioners to please attend. This is a fellowship event as much as it is a steward‐ ship event. If I receive enough promise of attendance there will also be breakfast. Questions? Call John Rogers at 443‐421‐5116 .

PS The Stenners trunk is going to EAT the competition alive! And yes that is a challenge...
