Climbing Mt. Hallasan
Seongpanak Hiking Trail ( One way : 9.6 km, it takes 7~8 hours to make a round hiking trip to the top)
Difficulty View It will give the sense of forest, but may be difficult due to long distance and steep slope. This course is recommended for those who are totally prepared for climbing Hallasan Mountain. Transportation: Take a bus from Jeju Intercity Bus Terminal routing 5.16 Road (In the direction of Seogwipo) Info. Seongpanak Tickets Office (064.725.9950)
Gwaneumsa Hiking Trail ( One way : 8.7 km, it takes 8~9 hours to make a round hiking trip to the top)
Difficulty View The Gwaneumsa Trail is noted as the most demanding course in Hallasan Mountain due to its dramatically shifting topography within the 9km course. Because it requires about 30 percent more physical strength than the other hiking trails, more professional climbers choose this trail. Nevertheless, people who have climbed Gwaneumsa once persist in climbing this trail if only because of the magnificent scenery it offers on Hallasan Mountain. Transportation: Bus to Gwaneumsa. (77 route Jedae-GwaneumsaTamna Education Institute. The bus runs from 6:30 am, every 40-50 minutes/ Available only Sat and Sun) Contact : Gwaneumsa Hiking Trail Info. (064.756.9950)
Yeongsil Hiking Trail ( One way : 3.7 km, it takes 3~4 hours to make a round trip to the top) Difficulty View The Yeongsil Trail is relatively easy as it is the shortest course up Hallasan Mountain. It is open only up to Witse Oreum and does not allow hikers to reach Baeknokdam, the crater lake at the peak of Hallasan Mountain. Because of its relative ease, it is suitable for elderly climbers and newlywed couples on honeymoon and offers views of both Yeongsilgiam and Seonjakjiwat. Contact : Yeongsil Hiking Trail Info. (064.747.9950)
Eorimok Hiking Trail ( One way : 4.7 km, it takes 4~5 hours to make a round trip to the top) Difficulty View This course is relatively easy, despite gentle slope. Especially in winter, snow is widely spread in Mansae Hill, so you can enjoy the beauty of winter scenery. Climbers are allowed only up to Witse Oreum, so Bakrokdam cannot be reached. Transportation: Take a bus from the Jeju Intercity Bus Terminal routing 1100 Road (Jungmun Bound) Contact : Eorimok Hiking Train Info. (064.713.9950 ~ 3)
Donnaeko Hiking Trail ( One way : 7km, it takes 7~8 hours to make a round hiking trip to the top)
Difficulty View Starting from Seogwipo, Donnaeko Trail is an exceptionally long course that was closed for 15 years for the reformation until December, 2009 and thus offers new views to climbers. It is a gentle course that boasts lush forests that resemble a rainforest. You can also enjoy camping with water. Camping is also allowed at Donnaeko Valley camping site. Transportation: Take a bus from Jeju Intercity Bus Terminal routing 5.16 Road (Seogwipo Bound) and get off at Seogwipo Industrial Science High School. The trail is 1 hours walk from here. Contact : 064.710.6920~3 15
Leisure Sports Trip Dive into the blue sea: Scuba Diving The areas around Munseom (Mosquito Islet) and Beomseom (Tiger Islet) are perfect places to enjoy scuba diving because the sea maintains a temperature of 20 degrees year-round and there are beautiful underwater views. Note: Anyone can participate easily because swimming skills don’t matter.
Abyss tour: Submarine Exploring the sea of Jeju by submarine is the only way to see shipwrecks and the scenery 40 meters under the sea as well. This course should not be missed, as the underwater photography of this volcanic island‘s scenic seabed will be the most memorable. Note: Take seasick medicine if needed
Ride through the open fields: Horseback Riding To travel the large meadows of Jeju freely, horse-riding is highly recommended. Feeling the wind while on horseback gives you another typical taste of Jeju. Note : Be careful not to stand behind the horse not to be kicked.
Be reborn as a human bird: Paragliding Experience the thrill of flying like a bird over Jeju’s many hills with the cool wind blowing. Note : Be sure to wear a long sleeved shirt and long pants
In addition to the above, there are also high speeded jet boats, relaxing yachts, flying parasailing, running ATV and karts which can be operated safely be all age on Jeju Island. You can also enjoy hunting during the four months from November 1 through February. Info. Jeju Tourist Information Center 064.740.6000 / 064.742.8866
