My names Lian Kirkbride I am currently a second year student studying Sociology. Before coming to university I had participated in a wide range of sports activities and events,
such as playing Basketball for my home town, coaching other Basketball teams and organising summer activities for children aged 5 to 11. Last year was made the Edge Hill Women’s
Rugby League Captain, in addition to this I am also a member of the Ormskirk Ladies Rugby Team.
As sports officer my aims would be:
•
To first of all to improve support for all sports teams to provide an equal opportunity for development and improvement. This would also include sports
teams who do not belong in the BUCKs league.
•
Secondly I would try to increase spectators at EdgeHill matches as a way of
improving recognition to team’s performance and develop a greater sense of
EdgeHill community, I would do this in a variety of way such as posting team
fixtures online.
•
Furthermore, as sports officer I would like to improve team integration within
Edge Hill. To To do this I would like to organise a sports day whereby all teams
would compete against each other in a range of sports activities. Finally, as sports officer I would be more than happy to help you develop any ideas you have for your sports team. After all, it’s your sports team, not mine!
But these elections are not just about electing several individuals to make a difference at Edge Hill through the Students’ Union. It’s about electing a team of people whose combined efforts will see this Union strive even further to achieve all it can for its students, and leave lasting positive effects that will not just benefit students next year, but for years and years to come. Keep a look out on posters and manifesto’s of other candidates, who like me, believe in the bigger picture, that it takes more than one person to run a Students’ Union. We are the pieces that fit together, that will continue make this Students’ Union a great Students’ Union.
One team, One vision A better student experience
