LT. Governor’s Greeting Hello Division 13! My name is Jeongseok Suh (or just Daniel), and I am the Lieutenant Governor in charge of Division 13! I am very excited for this upcoming year and I hope that I can lead you all through a successful year of service! This Newsletter will include important information on various topics including International Convention, Fall Rally, LTC and much more! I have a few general, yet extremely important, goals that I would like to achieve this year. I would like to increase communication through various methods like Skype Calls and Websites and things of that sort. I also want to show people how fun Key Club can actually be, and that service isn’t always something that’s boring. Because of this, I want to start having fun division-wide events that could benefit a cause at the same time! Lastly, and most importantly, I want to make sure that Division 13 of Key Club becomes more unified then we ever were before. I believe that even despite the large amount of space between our schools, we can all come together and strive towards a better world. Yours In Service, Lt. Governor Jeongseok (Daniel) Suh Division XIII New York District Key Club (845) 391- 6218 danielsuh.ltg@nydkc.org Address: 7 Massachusetts Dr. Newburgh, NY 12550

Looking Back On LTC! Jeongseok Suh (Daniel) I went to the 67th annual Leadership Training Conference not knowing what to expect. Even though I knew I was going to become Lt. Governor, I didn’t really know what Key Club was, and the only reason I was going to LTC was because Jai Agerwal (the LTG before me) told me I had to go. I was expecting a very dry, boring event because I thought that was what Key Club was. Little did I know how wrong I really was. The first day there, I was taken aback by the sheer number of people. There must have been around 800 to 900 people there! However, even after seeing everybody, I was still skeptical. I went to the Playfair (an icebreaker session) where I began to talk with people and exchange Snapchats. I began to open up more and more to the people around me and suddenly, I started to enjoy myself. I was really surprised! The second day was more focused on actually learning how to be an effective leader. It was very cool to have to wear a suit and to be surrounded by very officiallooking people. The Lt. Governors

(now the past Lt. Governors) led workshops in which they taught the people that attended a certain value. They had workshops of all kinds from individual Club Officer Workshops to Public Speaking to How to Tie a Tie. They taught invaluable lessons that I will use throughout both my time as a LTG and my life. However, most importantly (to me anyways) all of the LTG’s were confident in what they were saying. They all knew exactly what they were doing and how they were doing it. They made me excited to start my journey to become a better person. All of this was very fun, however, the time when everybody (all 800 of us) really bonded was during the Governor’s Ball. They brought us to a large open area and the DJ started playing music. This wasn’t the typical “High School Awkward Dancing Where Everybody Just Sits In The

Corner Drinking Soda” type of music. This was good dancing music. Everybody had a really good time and we all felt a lot closer afterwards. The last day felt very melancholy, as it was the last day in the hotel. Everybody met in the main meeting area and Governor Jacob Spencer gave out awards to clubs that achieved various accomplishments. After this ceremony, it was time to retire the old board and install the new board. The past LTG’s were called up one by one as they were retired from their positions. It was very easy to see how much Key Club meant to each of them. Tears were streaming down people’s faces and there were Kleenex tissues everywhere. Their expressions are ones that I will never forget and will keep in my mind forever. LTC is one of my most memorable experiences, and I know that it will continue to be for decades to come.

Service Spotlights! Monticello Every year Monticello High Key Club joins together with our Kiwanis family to raise awareness and donations for the Walk for Hunger fundraiser. This community effort supports the Food Bank of Hudson Valley by raising monetary donations and collecting nonperishable food items for those in need. As one of our MHS students aptly said, “Nobody should be hungry and there’s a lot of people starving right now.”

Our Monticello Key Club members recently raised donations by selling a paper drumstick ($1.oo each) campaign here at the high school. In addition, our members joined the Builders’ Club and Kiwanis family for the collection of food donations at our local Shop Rite. This contributed to raising awareness for the Walk for Hunger trail walk on April 18th.

Service Project Ideas Hey key clubbers! How do you feel?! I am Alexis Warren and I am Lieutenant Governor for Division 2. I would like to share with you my experience with a workshop at the Leadership Training Conference in March. It was awesome and I encourage everyone to start fundraising now!

The workshop included making Boo Boo Bunnies. The room was packed out of people. Boo Boo Bunnies are basically bunny shaped washcloths in which you can put an ice pack. It makes kids happy to put a bunny on a boo boo instead of just a plain old ice pack wrapped in a towel. I loved participating in this service project based workshop! I hope you all get to experience something similar!

Meet the Lt. Governor! Hello Division 13! I hope that you are enjoying my first Newsletter to this point! My name is Jeongseok Suh, but everybody calls me Daniel. I attend Newburgh Free Academy Main Campus and am currently a sophomore. I was introduced to Key Club by my sister, who was a member when she was in High School. Key Club was one of the things that she insisted on me doing, and she forced me to join. I had no idea what I was doing, and simply paid my dues and went to the meetings. I didn’t know what Key Club was or what it stood for, and I didn’t even know that there were Key Clubs outside of NFA. Eventually, as I began to spend more and more time with the people in Key Club, I began to understand what Key Club was, and the incredible works of service done by Key Clubbers everywhere. It inspired me to make myself better, and here I am today, leading and serving all of you! I would like to state my goals in further detail then I did in the Lt. Governor’s Greeting. First up is increasing communications. I feel like increasing communications between all of you and myself is an essential step towards becoming a more unified division. I want to make an easy way for you all to get in contact with me and for me to answer you back. I feel like creating a website would be the best way to do this, as it will provide a central location where anybody can ask anything they would like. I would also like to increase the number of divisional events that I hold. These events will allow the clubs in division 13 to meet with each other and start to create bonds with one another. I have made plans to hold a “Mile of Dimes” to raise money for the March of Dimes organization (look at next page for more info). If you have any ideas on any divisional projects that we could do ( it could be anything at all), then please don’t hesitate to text me at (845) 391-6218 or email me at danielsuh.ltg@nydkc.org
