Strategic Focus Synergy is uniquely positioned to capitalize on attractive opportunities in the WTE space and will initially target projects with one or more of the following characteristics: •High off-take markets – markets with high power pricing •High tipping fee or high btu content waste environments – locations or waste streams that have high costs of disposal or high btu content waste streams •“Shovel ready” – projects that have multiple facets of a complete project (WSA, PPA, etc.) but unable to finance for a variety of reasons •“Oil on the margin” pricing – markets that rely on diesel generation as their marginal product for electricity generation
Providence Energy Corporation
Our Process Synergy offers a turnkey WTE solution capable of disposing of a wide range of solid wastes. Our process is innovative and comprehensive by providing a solution that is environmentally friendly, economically viable and a highly efficient method for transforming waste into energy. Synergy designs, permits, finances, constructs and operates its project facilities utilizing solid waste generated by municipalities (MSW) and disposed of by local governments. Typical project includes: Long-term Waste Supply Agreement (WSA) Long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) Fully wrapped Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) Contract Full interconnection agreement Financeable gasification technology
Providence Energy Corporation
Technology Agnostic Synergy believes that we separate ourselves from competitors in the industry by remaining “technology agnostic”. Our competition is attempting to develop WTE projects by pushing a certain technology. We understand that every project is unique and may require a different technology solution. By examining many development factors such as the feedstock, off-take needs, real estate limitations and emissions restrictions of each project we will then select the best vendor for that project. When selecting a technology we put a premium on vendors with operating history and a sufficient balance sheet to allow for project finance.

Gasification Technology • Accepts municipal solid waste (MSW), wood, sludge, tires, biomass • Separate and recycle metals • Gasification creates synthetic gas – renewable fuel • Fuel used to generate electricity • Low profile, non–incineration, with clean emissions • Net offset of greenhouse gases – carbon credits • Complies with EPA air quality standards • Modular design provides flexibility for expansion when needed

Gasification
Power Generation
Process 1. Delivery and Pre-Conditioning of the Waste • Tipping Floor • Removing of Unacceptable Material • Shredding and Removal of Metals • Storage
Providence Energy Corporation
Process 2. Gasification •Converting Waste into Synthetic Gas •Complete Syngas Combustion •Non-Incineration Technology
Providence Energy Corporation
Process 3. Power Generation •Heat Recovery Steam Generator •Emission Control Equipment •Steam fed Turbine Generator •Renewable Electricity
Providence Energy Corporation
Community Benefits • Savings in tipping fees and/or operating costs • Increase landfill life cycle • No development costs to local government or taxpayers • New property tax revenue • New employment and capital investment • Compatible with existing waste collection program • Locks in long-term disposal costs with predictable increases • Hedge against rising electricity costs

WTE versus Fossil Fuels When compared to an equal amount of electricity produced using fossil fuels such as coal: Reduction of 200,000 tons/yr. of CO2
Equivalent to the capture of 1.0M trees - or Equivalent to eliminating CO2 from 30,000 cars
Providence Energy Corporation
Solving Two Problems Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) WTE produces 1/3 as much CO2 as landfilling and qualifies as a minor source air permit under both U.S. EPA and EU standards It has become very difficult and expensive to permit new landfills Landfill capacity is shrinking and limited real estate is available for new landfills Renewable Energy WTE provides base load power…wind and solar do not Easy to integrate into a transmission system Diversifies away from reliance on fossil fuels Helps utilities meet renewable energy goals

Diesel Price Volatility
This chart represents the volatility in Gulf Coast Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel prices since September of 2007. The M6 line represents that 68% of the time (or one standard deviation) pricing moves a certain percentage from its mean or average over a rolling 6-month time frame. The M12 line represents the same equation over a 12-month time frame. Over the past 4 years, 6-month diesel price volatility has been no less than 50%. Oil on the Margin locations view this volatility as one of the prime reasons why they are attempting to diversify their generation away from fuel oil.
