God has laid him down to sleep and left us with his love to keep. When he awakes in heaven on high, Angels will be standing by to welcome him and show him the way where other dear ones happily stay. His earthly visit is now done, and he sleeps in peace. The hourglass, with its sands of time, has slowly but surely spilled its contents, and with the passing of the last sand, went the life of our loved one, Alvin. This day has been coming ever since life began for him on June 12, 1953, in Lamar, Mississippi, when his Heavenly Father entrusted him into the hands of his parents. He was the fourth child born to the late Alvin Mason, Sr., and Annie Norwood Mason. His parents, along with one sister, Lillie B. Watts, and two brothers, Freddie Lee Everett and Johnny Louis Mason, preceded him in death. He attended Lincoln Elementary, Lincoln Jr. High, and Southside High School, where he was a 1971 graduate. Upon graduating from Southside High School, he furthered his education by attending LeMoyne-Owen College and earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics. He was trained and brought up in the fear of the Lord, leading him to confess hope in Christ at an early age at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Rev. L. L. Laws. Alvin was gainfully employed as a Sales Associate by Roy Good Hardware, where he worked diligently until his retirement. He had a lot of fond memories that he wants his family to remember. Always hold on to the laughter that we shared, and remember that we will be caught up together in the clouds to meet the Lord. Therefore, to my family and friends, comfort one another with these words. Until we meet again!! On Friday, August 27, 2021, the Angel of silence softly pulled the heavenly shades of night around him, and God called him home to be at his side. Left to celebrate memories of his life are his loving and devoted sister, Cora Mason Bogard, his devoted nephew, Edward L. Bogard, both of Memphis, his niece, Freddie Mae Lee of Seaside, California, and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
