Baby Sister

“Olletta, My Baby Sister, Little Sister & Adult Woman”

No one knows the times we had.

Nor does anyone know the secrets we shared. We told each other things that were special only to the two of us.

I knew how you felt about your life, you knew how I was about mine too. There were times we laughed together; but there were times we were sad too.

I knew and respected your love and decisions, because I respected your right to choose.

As mothers we shared joy, concern, heart and pain.

Now there were times when we were exasperated and short with one another, but our bond of love carried us through. You were my younger sister, the baby of our family too, yet I had to remember and respect that you became an adult woman too.

So little sister, baby sister and adult independent woman too, I miss our phone calls late on Saturday nights. Several times since you left, I find myself going to the phone to call you only to remember that you are no longer here. When you first left, I could picture our mother greeting with hugs and kisses and saying, “my baby”. I could picture our brother Sonny looking at you and saying, “hi Squeak”. Then I could see Joyce being herself and saying, “Olletta what the hell are you doing here?” Finally, Olletta, I visualize our Daddy just quietly standing there with a smile on his face. So when I think pf you Olletta, I am consoled by knowing you are safe with those who love you.

I will miss and cherish that time God gave me to share and spend with you. I am filled with hugs and kisses, yet a heart full of loneliness and pain.

So now my baby sister, little sister and adult woman too, rest Olletta knowing your big sister is missing and loving you.

Rest with our love ones in peace.

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has offered their love, prayers, and support during this difficult time. Your kind words, comforting gestures, and presence have meant more to us than we can express. A special thank you to the medical staff, friends, and family who cared for and stood by us throughout this journey. Your kindness and compassion will forever be remembered and cherished. We sincerely appreciate you.

She Is Gone

You can shed tears that she is gone, Or you can smile because she lived. You can close your eyes and pray that she will come back, Or you can open your eyes and see all that she has left.

Your heart can be empty because you can’t see her, Or you can be full of the love that you shared. You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday, You can remember her and only that she is gone.

Or you can cherish her memory and let it live on. You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back, Or you can do what she would want, smile, open your eyes, love and go on.
