Martin Goodwin, 72, our beloved father and grandfather, departed this life on January 15, 2025.
Born on February 4, 1952, Martin was the only child of Martin G. Goodwin Sr. and Ernestine Pruitt-Goodwin. Martin graduated from Carver High School in Memphis, Tennessee, and served in the United States Navy. Martin was also a faithful, hardworking employee of the Kellogg plant in Memphis until he retired in 2011.
Martin was the proud father of two children, Marcus Goodwin (Tyrunya) of Nashville, Tennessee, and Elizabeth (Timothy) Cleaves of Memphis, Tennessee. He was also a grandfather to six grandchildren: Marcus Goodwin II, Tai Goodwin, Trinity Cleaves, Ezekiel Cleaves, Elijah Cleaves, and Ezra Cleaves. Martin enjoyed watching sports and nature shows, sleeping, eating a good meal, and trying new foods.
Martin leaves to cherish his memory, his children, grandchildren, Ethel Warren, and several cousins and friends.
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
Psalms 23
We think about you always, We talk about you still, You have never been forgotten, And you never will. We hold you close within our hearts and there you will remain. To walk and guide us through our lives, Until we meet again.
We Love You Dad

Perhaps you sent a lovely card, or sat quietly in a chair. Perhaps you sent a funeral spray, if so we saw it there.
Perhaps you spoke the kindest words, as any friend could say, Perhaps you were not there at all, just thought of us that day, Whatever you did to console our hearts, We thank you so much whatever the part.
