For someone who meant so much and loved by all he knew, Who left behind a trail of tears and precious memories too. We loved the sunshine in his smile and kindness in his heart, But heaven saw that he was tired which meant we had to part. And now that it’s his special day, dear angels, hear our prayer -Please guard him with your gentle wings and tend him with great care.

‘Letter to my Pops’ First of all, I want to give honor to the Lord Jesus Christ for He gave me knowledge and wisdom and understanding of life. My Pops was my favorite person in the world. He didn’t have a lot of money, but he always kept it real no matter what I was going through in my life. He always uplifted me in a good way. He inspired me to do my music because he said I had a powerful voice! He will be greatly missed I was his youngest son, and he told me to stay strong during the battle of life!

Cedric Leroy Mitchell
Cedric’s spiritual foundation began at the New Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, where he confessed a belief in Christ and was baptized under the pastorage of Rev. “Gospel” Joe B. Williams. He was a member of the Sunday School, and took part in many of the church’s youth activities. Cedric was a 1967 graduate and a mighty Golden Wildcat of Melrose High School. His leadership skills became prominent as Vice-President of the Junior Class. Not only was he a noted scholar among the many honor students in his class, he also loved to sing. He could often be found harmonizing “under the street light” with a few of his good friends! He attended Clark College in Atlanta, GA, and subsequently joined the United States Army. After his tour of duty, he worked for Security Title Company for a short time. He later worked for the United States Postal Service for over 25 years. Cedric loved his family, and was always giving advice and sharing his expertise with the younger members growing up. He had a passion for grilling and for fishing in Coro Lake, sharing with his many friends. Cedric leaves to cherish his memory: three children, Lola Mitchell of Los Angeles, CA, Tarik Mitchell, Sr. of New York, and Eric Mitchell of Memphis, TN and their mother, Veronica Mitchell; two sisters, Phyllis Anita Anderson (Edward) and Cheryl Denise Holiday (Carl); two brothers, Ralph Edwin Mitchell and Gerald Wayne Mitchell, all of Memphis, TN; one grandson, Tarik Royel Mitchell, Jr., one brother, Charles L. Mitchell, Jr. preceded him in death. Cedric also leaves his many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
