Remembering DeVontay... D eVontay (Tay-Tay) Kendell Allen, son of Daryl Harris and Kimberly Allen, was born August 28, 1998, in Memphis, TN. DeVontay attended the public schools of Shelby County Schools, and he later
completed his High School education at Little Rock Central (Class of 2017). In addition, he was very athletic and played football while at Little Rock Central. At an early age, DeVontay professed his belief in Jesus Christ at New Hope Baptist Church, and because of his profession, he was baptized. DeVontay was well-liked and loved by his friends and family. Although they were briefly separated due to him relocating to Little Rock, AR, DeVontay held a special bond with his paternal cousins DeZairco, WaZairean, Bashaar, and AxZairea. Although he was an only child, DeVontay was still able to have a sibling-like bond while growing up with his cousin Chelsea Tolbert who often resided in the same home with him. On Sunday, April 25, 2021, DeVontay’s affectionate smile and dimples ceased when his life came to an end. His maternal grandmother Denise Allen-Jones preceded him in death. DeVontay’s life will be cherished by: his father, Daryl Harris, his mother, Kimberly Allen, his two sisters, Aniya Nelson & Destiny Bayman, his two brothers, Damiyan Wright & Desmond Golliday, his extended family, Lasandra Jones, Jayln Jones, Patarius Jones, & Tavion Lee, his Paw-Paw, Sammy Jones, his paternal grandmother, Velma Harris, his paternal grandfather, Eddie Harris, his aunts, Dr. Cassandra Clariett, Valerie Lowrey (Claude), Laquinta Steverson, Shanika Moore, & Antonette Allen, his uncles, Eddie Harris Jr., Michael Harris, a host of cousins, great-aunts, great-uncles, and friends.
Our Dear Cousin You were more than a cousin; you were our brother! You helped us laugh, and at times, you made us angry but, we never thought you would cause us to cry this much. DeVontay, we will not allow your dying to be in vain; in fact, we’re already learning just how quickly life can become vaporized. Until we meet on the other side, we will continue to cherish the time we had with you and always reflect on how you become a brother. Your Cousins
