On Friday, December 10, 2021, Dorothy Marie Coleman passed away peacefully at the age of 94. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. On March 6, 1927, she was born in Phillip, MS, to Ms. Mae Wesley Cooper and Chester Johnson. She graduated from Manassas High School, Memphis, TN, and received a bachelor’s degree in Literature and Fine Arts.
Dorothy was a hairstylist, housemaker, and etiquette teacher for over 20 years. Her hobbies included reading, sewing, photography, cleaning, and cooking. She was a majorette dancer, basketball, and softball player in her early years. Dorothy went by many names from her children, such as momma, mommy, mother dear, and mother dearest. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, two sons, one sister, two brothers and her husband, Johnnie Coleman. She is survived by her children, Ronald Robinson, Sheila Green, Anita Robinson, and Christopher Coleman (Gina); two daughters in law Yolanda Robinson and Betty Robinson; grandchildren; Tanya Looney, Rhonda Robinson, Sterling Scott, Kenneth Robinson, II., and Christopher Coleman Jr.; great-grandchildren Devin Snipes, Nicolas Snipes, Madison Looney, and Michael Scott and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
