I Am Always With You When I am gone, release me, let me go, I have so many things to see and do, You mustn’t tie yourself to me with too many tears, But be thankful we had so many good years. I gave you my love, and you can only guess How much you’ve given me in happiness. I thank you for the love that you have shown, But now it is time I traveled on alone. So grieve for me a while, if grieve you must Then let your grief be comforted by trust That it is only for a while that we must part, So treasure the memories within your heart. I won’t be far away for life goes on. And ¡f you need me, call, and I will come. Though you can’t see or touch me, I will be near And if you listen with your heart, you’ll hear All my love around you soft and clear And then, when you come this way alone, I’ll greet you with a smile and a “Welcome Home.”
Love, Elmore

Reverend Gerald Rayborn
Elmore was reared in the beloved Orange Mound neighborhood and graduated in 1962 from Melrose High School, where he played football. He loved attending all sports associated with Melrose High School, and he continued to support and follow the athletes until his health would no longer allow. After one year of attending college in California, he joined the United States Air Force. Later he was employed by the Ford Motor Company and retired after many years of service. He was baptized early in life at the Mt. Gilliam M.B. Church under the leadership of Rev. Eugene Bates. Later he joined New Mt. Sinai M. B. Church under the leadership of Rev. Gerald Rayborn, where he sang with the Male Chorus. Elmore married Rogerine Gatson on November 10, 1984. During his illness, she took very good care of him as his caretaker. To cherish his memory, he leaves a very devoted wife, Rogerine; a loving sister, Mary Shipp Barnes (Everett); four daughters, Alicia Neal-Burton (Anthony), Crystal Jones (Melvin), Belinda Bailey and Markla Austin; two sons, Leon Gatson (Jacqueline) and Tony Stafford; fourteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; one aunt, Dorothy Lee Smith, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Matthew 25:21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
