Garlin Moss was born January 22, 1944, in Moscow, Tennessee, to the late Juneious Grant Moss and Daisy Lee Walton. He was the ninth child born to this union. Garlin accepted Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Bethel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Clemmie Mickens, Jr. Garlin graduated from Mt. Pisgah High School. He was employed with Osteen and Brothers Construction Company and later retired in 1997. He was united in holy matrimony to Delores Gilmore on April 17, 1993. Garlin departed this earthly life on Friday, June 4, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, Juneious and Daisy Moss, two sisters, Queen Harton and Della Hathaway, three brothers, James Moss, Daniel Moss, and William Moss. He leaves to cherish his memories behind his loving wife, Delores Moss; two sons, Darrel Moss of Fresno, California, Stephen Jones (Carolyn) of Memphis, Tennessee, five daughters, Tina Jones (Micheal), Sheila Lewis (Adrian), Vickie Hall, Sharon Branch, and Angela, Mickens, all of Memphis, Tennessee, three sisters, Gloria Hollins, Earline Cooper, and Verise Mae Rivers, a special granddaughter, Urmika “Me Me” Herndeas, and niece Mary Ann Shields. He also leaves 17 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends who loved him dearly. Garlin was a man of many sayings, “Who loves ya baby”, “People do people things”, “Ain’t it nice to be nice”.
