Reflections Reflections of Life
George Alice Coley Patrick
was born July 28, 1923, in Benton County, Mississippi to the union
of the late George Coley and Vaseline Coley. She became known as Alice. Alice Coley found a hope in Christ in 1933 under the leadership of Reverend B. L. Rogers. She later (1941) united in holy matrimony to the late West Patrick. They resided in their home at 1499 Rayner Street for over 50 years. This marriage ended in 1988 upon the demise of her beloved husband. To this union seven children were born; Mary Alice Patrick Pilot, Rena Mae Patrick Childress, West Patrick, Jr., Fannie Sue Patrick Brown, Marshall Patrick, Elijah Patrick and John Fitzgerald Patrick. Alice served as a Nurse Assistant at Kennedy Hospital, currently known as the Memphis VA Medical Center. Later, Alice served as one of the first housekeepers and cooks for the late Elvis Presley of Whitehaven and for other well-known homeowners. In her personal life, family members knew her as a caring, loving, supportive, patient and an unselfish person. Her home was a place where neighbors and friends felt free to stop by for a meal or help. George Alice Coley Patrick leaves a family and friends that loved her dearly; children; Mary Alice, Rena Mae, West, Jr. Fannie Sue, Marshall, Elijah and John, ten grandchildren, sixteen (16) great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and one great-grandson, who has preceded her in death. Ms. Patrick also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends to celebrate her life.
