oyce Faye Myers was born on April 18, 1952, in Memphis, Tennessee, to the late Douglas Johnson, Sr., and Annie Mae Curry Johnson. She departed this life on September 3, 2022, at Methodist University Hospital. Joyce was raised in the Castalia Heights Community, graduating from Hamilton High School of Memphis. Joyce attended the University of Memphis, where she remained on the Dean’s List and received her BS in Education. Joyce obtained her Master’s Degree and became an Educational Specialist. She shaped and nurtured many young minds by becoming an Early Childhood Education Teacher. She received many awards for her work and was praised by her students, parents, and coworkers. Anyone who knew her would agree that she was the most loving, kindest, and caring person they had ever met. Her warm heart touched everyone that she encountered. She was an adoring wife, mother, and grandmother to the family she nurtured. She leaves to cherish her husband, Sammie Myers, daughters, Niya Briggs (Jamil), Joya Guy (Joenus), sisters; Rose Marie Saulsberry, Thelma Johnson, Carolyn Bell (preceded in death), Marva Johnson, Evelyn Mitchell (Charles), brothers; Douglas Johnson, Jr., Charles Johnson (Sharia), and Carl Nichols, four grandchildren, Deja, Jamil, Jeremiah and Josiah, one great-grandchild, Kourtni and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
