Krystal Copeland Hendrix
ife
was born in East Chicago, Indiana to parents Barbara Copeland Jones and Sterling M. Owens. At the age of 1, she moved to Chicago, Illinois where she attended Doolittle West and East Elementary Schools. Krystal went to Dunbar High School and then to Truman College followed by the Kennedy King College nursing program where she graduated with honors. She became a traveling nurse and decided to make Memphis her home because she fell in love with her church family at World Overcomers. Krystal was baptized at an early age at West Point Baptist Church and was saved at 19 years of age under the pastoral care of Pastor Pamela Blossom of the World Outreach Conference Center located on 4 East 100th Street in Chicago, Illinois. Her relationship with Pastor Blossom was of great importance to Krystal as well as her growing faith in God and His purpose for her life. That purpose became threefold: palliative care nursing at the Veteran’s Hospital, service to the World Overcomers’ Deliverance Team, and consoling breast cancer survivors. After moving to Memphis, Krystal continued to profess her love for Christ and joined World Overcomers Outreach Ministries Church under the leadership of Apostle Alton R. Williams, Senior Pastor in Memphis, TN. She was employed by the Veteran’s Hospital and made sure butterflies were a theme on the palliative care floor where she compassionately cared for terminally ill veterans. While working at the V.A. she also earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Union University, Germantown, TN campus. In 2013, she married the love of her life, Valerian Keith Hendrix, Jr., who accepted her very spoiled Shih Tzu, Haylee. Butterflies are symbols of beauty, grace, and spiritual growth where the past is left behind in favor of new beginnings. Consequently, Krystal chose Butterfly Hollow just outside of Nashville, TN for their wedding. Keith and Krystal were a good balance of shyness and craziness for each other and have shared many laughs and also weathered the storms of life together. They had great respect and love for one another. Krystal departed her earthly life on Friday, March 10, 2017 while being cared for by fellow palliative care nurses at Methodist Hospice. Her spirit was happy and at peace. God granted us time to prepare for her spirit soaring to meet Him. Above all else, Krystal loved God, family, and loved ones and made sure to put them first. Krystal is survived by her loving husband, Valerian Keith Hendrix, Jr. and Shih Tzu, Haylee; her mother, Barbara Copeland Jones of E. Chicago, IN; siblings, Milton Copeland (Karriema), LaKeisha “Candy” Copeland (Yusuf) and Sterling Copeland (Equanna) all from Chicago, IL; in-laws, Valerian Keith Hendrix, Sr., Dr. Katherine Grace Hendrix, & Jennifer Hendrix Daniel (Robert) of Memphis, TN / Fresno, CA; along with grandparents, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews that she loved so dearly.

Message from Mom & Siblings
Our hearts still ache with sadness and many tears still flow. What it meant to lose you, no one will know. We hold you close within our hearts and there you will remain. To walk with us throughout our lives until we meet again.

Message from the Grace & Hendrix Families:
Unlike the rest of us, you no longer see through a glass darkly; now your whole life is crystal clear. We can think of no one who fits the following scripture better than you, Krystal. You knew how to stand your ground but, most of all, you embodied kindness. You taught us well.
A Letter to My Wife Hun, we have been through quite a journey together. Even though the years were short, every day was so very meaningful. You loved me through my good and my bad, You were always there for me since day one. Your smile, phone calls, and happiness being with me made every day brighter. You believed in me and always pushed for me to do right And always be the best I could be. Most importantly, you helped me to learn to lean on the Lord For everything happening in our lives. As your love for the Lord was always first, foremost and unwavering, I want to thank you, Hun, for making me a better man, Husband and Christian all around. I miss you so much and “Fuzzy” loves and misses you too. Even though you are in Heaven now with the Lord Every day, minute and second of the hour, you are missed. I love you so very much Hun, and I always will.
Your Darling Husband & “Fuzzy” too
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. . . If we live by the Spirit, let’s follow the Spirit. Let’s not become arrogant, make each other angry, or be jealous of each other.” Galatians 5: 22, 23, & 25
