My Sister

Hey my sister. I really can’t believe that I am lying here writing this to you right now because I just don’t even have the energy to set up, we’ve always been each other’s strength; but, I have to say this to you and try to answer this statement. After you left I told myself “just 1 more day”, I said just give me 1 more day and then I thought, what difference will one more day mean, when I already had 19151days with you to: Jump rope with you, race with you, sing with you, play name that tune on the walls with you, share bedroom and bath with you, dance with you, ride bikes with you, cook, travel, laugh, cry, have serious conversations and fun times gossiping, sharing inside jokes, shop, hug, party, pray, smile at you, comb your hair, exchange memories, protect you, love each other’s children and list goes on and on. So really, what would 1 more day mean? I finally realized my answer, 1 more day to LOVE ON YOU and hear you say this is My sister Cynthia. Love you My sister Lisa, best friend, and endless love...keep singing I hear you

Mommy My Mommy

How does one say goodbye Without a tear upon my eye I know you were full of joy and love But mama I’m sad and I need your hugs I miss your smile...I miss those dimples. Your eyes were so pretty, I’ll always remember Such a big beautiful soulful voice You sang the heck out of any song of choice Girl you were the life of the party. That look in your eyes means “let’s get it started” (lol insider) Mama I thank you for all my life lessons Just having you around was truly a blessing. I have so many many memories of just us two But my favorite is the most recent one, when we held your hand and sang a tune. All I want to say to you now with all my might is “You are the sunshine in my life You are the lifeline, you changed my life” I love you pretty lady, “for who you are” Until we meet again, Your Laurie lye

Life’s Brief Glance

n Monday, June 21, 2021, God called home Lisa King age 54, of Memphis, TN. She was a loving sister, aunt, cousin, niece, friend, and mother. Lisa was born to the late Lee and Jo Ella King in Chicago, IL, on February 6, 1967. It was there she met Lorin Elam, her best friend and partner for life. Lisa was a star from the beginning. She loved to sing, dance, and act. In high school, Lisa was a cheerleader, and she was proud to be a Coralaire, a chorus for which you had to audition for, and only a very small group of the best people made it. She thought she would go to Hollywood and become famous, but her biggest dream was to have a family of her own. She moved to Memphis, TN, where she married Lorin Elam, and there they raised three children Asia, Lauren, and Kesha. Anyone who knows Lisa knows that she had the gift of gab. She would talk to you until you fell asleep, but she just loved having people around to have fun with and was easily the life of the party. She always made sure that she had some type of food and drinks for people when they visited, even if you didn’t want anything. She was an entertainer and made sure whoever she surrounded herself with had fun, and if all else failed, she would tell you a corny joke so that you would have no choice but to laugh. She is survived and cherished by her forever partner, Lorin Elam, her three children, Asia (Elam) Stigall (Brian), Lauren (Elam) McEntee (Terdell), and Kesha Elam, her sister, Cynthia King Myers (Hal (Howard Hewett), and brother, Lee Andrew King, Jr., her niece, LaPorsche Robinson and nephew, Markis Robinson, grandchildren: Terdell “Tj” Jr., Steven “King/Noos Noos” III, Nala “Bala,” McKenzee “Kenzee ma,” Kaleesi “Jojo Bean,” and Delilah “Lily,” her close cousins, Crystal and Pin Townsend and Michael Hudson, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who loved her dearly.

Reflections

She appreciated and loved all of her friends and family so much; special thanks to Adonis “Poochie” Elam Sr., Demetrius “Meechie” Stinnett, Samara “Bay” Elam, Tiffany Jackson, and dear friend Val for having that extra special bond with her throughout her life. Most importantly, she was the type of person that would help ANYONE, even giving the shirt off her back to a stranger, and she loved her family more than ANYTHING!

“I’m Free”

Don’t grieve for me for now I’m free, I’m following the path God laid for me. I took His hand when I heard Him call: I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day To laugh, to love, to work or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way; I found my place at the close of day. If my parting has left a void Then fill it with remembered joys.

A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, Ah yes, these things I too shall miss.

Be not burdened with times of sorrow: I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life’s been full, I savoured much; Good friends, good times, a loved ones touch. Perhaps my life seemed all too brief: Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your heart and share with me; God wanted me now, He set me free.
