Lorece Gatewood,
85, died Wednesday, December 28, 2016. Born April 4, 1931, to the late Elias and
Evelyn Gatewood, Lorece was a 12-year alumnus of Melrose High School. She worked at Sears Roebuck & Company as a Returns Operator, and after taking on a new profession as a domestic worker, she retired in 1999. She was a faithful member of Greater Faith M.B. Church where she served as an usher for many years.
Lorece was preceded in death by her daughter, Lois Gatewood, and brother, Elias Gatewood, Jr. She leaves to mourn her passing six children, all of Memphis, TN: Pamela G. Macon, Milton (Rosalynn) Gatewood, Sr., Ronald (Linda) Gatewood, Sr., Autry Gatewood, Anitra (Tyrone) Hite, and Evelyn Renee Gatewood; three sisters: Bernice Bundrent of Detroit, MI, Aleta Wadlington and Shirley Gatewood of Memphis, TN; twelve grandchildren: Danita Macon, Alyssa Macon-Moore, John David Macon, III, Langston Gatewood, Ronald Gatewood, Jr., Milton Gatewood, Jr., Melvin Jerome Gatewood, Jason Gatewood, Corey Hite, Reginald Gatewood, Sr., Ashley Thompson and Brandi Hite; a special great-nephew, Martavious Stevens, Sr., eight great-grandchildren, one great, great-grandchild, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
