Ruthie Mae Smith Carr

was born on June 10, 1939, in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Thomas Smith and Sadie Foster Smith. She was the youngest of four siblings; one brother, the late James Smith of Chicago, Illinois, two sisters, the late Mae Frances Griffin of Chicago, Illinois, and Classie Rankin Travis of Memphis, Tennessee. She was united in Matrimony to the late Mr. Ernest Leroy Carr. They had three children; Mr. Timothy Tyrone Carr of Memphis, Tennessee, Ms. Q’Sheba Pa’TriSha Carr of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Ms. Gleno Denise Carr of Memphis, Tennessee. She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving grand-daughter, Tahme’Sha Tealshea CarrWashington, of Chattanooga, Tennessee. She leaves a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, family and friends. Ruth had a loving soul and spirit to everyone she met. She most enjoyed cooking lavish meals and baking assorted desserts and taking care of others. She had a smile that would light up a room and an infectious laugh that would draw people near to her. Also, she was a giver and would gladly give her last to anyone in need. At an early age, Ruth gave her life to Christ the Lord at the Temple Church of God in Christ. Ruth had an awesome sense of humor and would quickly ask, “Do you have dreams and Visions” before allowing anyone to assist her needs. She also loved reading “The Word of God.” One of her favorite Bible scripture is Psalms 34:8 which states; O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him. As an adult, Ruth was a member of Zion Temple Church of God In Christ. She was actively involved in the mass choir, prison ministry, and intercessory prayer warrior team. Ruth devoted her life to helping others in need anyway she could. Fiercely, Independent, Ruth knew where her help came from!

Until We Meet Again

Those special memories of you will always bring a smile If only I could have you back for just a little while then we could sit and talk again just like we used to do You always meant so very much and always will do too The fact that you are no longer here will always cause me pain but you are forever in my heart Until we meet again
