The 2014 Trade Mission to South Africa has been split into 4 options with a detailed itinerary following. Option A: Trade Mission A– 11 days – South Africa: 11 to 21 September 2014 Option B: Trade Mission B- 17 days – South Africa: 11 to 27 September 2014 Option C: Trade Mission C – 18 days – South Africa & Namibia: 11 to 28 September 2014 Option D: Trade Mission D - 25 days – South Africa & Namibia: 11 September to 5 October 2014

ITINERARY TO START ALL TRADE MISSIONS : SOUTH AFRICA Thursday 11 September 2014 – Australia to Johannesburg The 2014 Trade Mission (All) begins with departure from Sydney or Melbourne (Tullamarine) Airports to Perth and onto the OR Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg. Friday 12 September 2014 – Johannesburg to Cape Town Arrive in Johannesburg and catch a connecting flight to Cape Town International Airport. Flight is approximately 2 hours. A free shuttle service will take you to the hotel in the picturesque Stellenbosch region of South Africa. All meals today are at your own cost.

Stellenbosch is a town in the Western Cape province of South Africa, situated about 50 kilometres east of Cape Town, along the banks of the Eerste River. Accommodation: Protea Hotel, Stellenbosch Saturday 13 September 2014 – Herd Visits (B,L.D) After a buffet breakfast the group will depart for three herd visits – Tierkloof Jerseys, Preekstoel Boerdery and Dalewood Farm. A late afternoon Snoekbraai will be a feature and will be arranged by the Cape Jersey Club. Accommodation: Protea Hotel, Stellenbosch Sunday 14 September 2014 – Sightseeing Day Cape Town & Surrounds (B,L,D) Today you will visit fascinating attractions including the historical Robben Island, Table Mountain, Kirstenbosch, the Waterfront and a wine farm. At night you will enjoy a Welcome Cocktail with a word of welcome by Hugo de Villiers, Honorary Life President of Jersey SA. Accommodation: Protea Hotel, Stellenbosch

Monday 15 September 2014 – Herd Visits (B,L,D) Today you will visit three herds: Van Niekerk Boerdery; John Walker and Edwin Gertsner. Tonight’s dinner will be hosted by the Overberg Jersey Club at the Arniston Hotel which will be your home for the next 5 nights. Accommodation: The Arniston Hotel, Arniston, Western Cape, South Africa Tuesday 16 September 2014 – WJCB Conference 2014 & Herd Visits (B,L,D) At 9.00 am there will be an official opening of the conference followed by sessions on the Jersey Breed and Farming in South Africa. After lunch there are herd visits at Elim Melkery and Baden Jerseys and some sightseeing in Napier. That night you will enjoy a wine cellar dinner in the Strandveld. Accommodation: The Arniston Hotel Wednesday 17 September 2014 – WJCB Conference & Herd Visits (B,L,D) WJCB Council Meeting followed by a discussion with prominent people from Africa on the Jerseys ability to adapt and thrive on the continent (Nigeria, Rwanda, Kenya, Zambia and Mozambique). Following lunch you will visit herds at Jan Schoonwinkel and Suidplass Jerseys and view some merino rams. At dinner you will hear guest speaker Dr Koos Coetzee talking about the dairy situation in Africa. Accommodation: The Arniston Hotel Thursday 18 September 2014 – WJCB Conference & Mega Week Show (B,L,D) The morning will see you join in more of the conference and then the WJCB Meeting. In the afternoon you will depart for the heifer class judging at South Africa’s Agri Mega Week Show. Tonight’s dinner after you return to the hotel will be with the JETA Award Winners.
