The 2014 Trade Mission to South Africa has been split into 4 options with a detailed itinerary following. Option A: Trade Mission A– 11 days – South Africa: 11 to 21 September 2014 Option B: Trade Mission B- 17 days – South Africa: 11 to 27 September 2014 Option C: Trade Mission C – 18 days – South Africa & Namibia: 11 to 28 September 2014 Option D: Trade Mission D - 25 days – South Africa & Namibia: 11 September to 5 October 2014

ITINERARY TO START ALL TRADE MISSIONS : SOUTH AFRICA Thursday 11 September 2014 – Australia to Johannesburg The 2014 Trade Mission (All) begins with departure from Sydney or Melbourne (Tullamarine) Airports to Perth and onto the OR Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg. Friday 12 September 2014 – Johannesburg to Cape Town Arrive in Johannesburg and catch a connecting flight to Cape Town International Airport. Flight is approximately 2 hours. A free shuttle service will take you to the hotel in the picturesque Stellenbosch region of South Africa. All meals today are at your own cost.

Stellenbosch is a town in the Western Cape province of South Africa, situated about 50 kilometres east of Cape Town, along the banks of the Eerste River. Accommodation: Protea Hotel, Stellenbosch Saturday 13 September 2014 – Herd Visits (B,L.D) After a buffet breakfast the group will depart for three herd visits – Tierkloof Jerseys, Preekstoel Boerdery and Dalewood Farm. A late afternoon Snoekbraai will be a feature and will be arranged by the Cape Jersey Club. Accommodation: Protea Hotel, Stellenbosch Sunday 14 September 2014 – Sightseeing Day Cape Town & Surrounds (B,L,D) Today you will visit fascinating attractions including the historical Robben Island, Table Mountain, Kirstenbosch, the Waterfront and a wine farm. At night you will enjoy a Welcome Cocktail with a word of welcome by Hugo de Villiers, Honorary Life President of Jersey SA. Accommodation: Protea Hotel, Stellenbosch

Monday 15 September 2014 – Herd Visits (B,L,D) Today you will visit three herds: Van Niekerk Boerdery; John Walker and Edwin Gertsner. Tonight’s dinner will be hosted by the Overberg Jersey Club at the Arniston Hotel which will be your home for the next 5 nights. Accommodation: The Arniston Hotel, Arniston, Western Cape, South Africa Tuesday 16 September 2014 – WJCB Conference 2014 & Herd Visits (B,L,D) At 9.00 am there will be an official opening of the conference followed by sessions on the Jersey Breed and Farming in South Africa. After lunch there are herd visits at Elim Melkery and Baden Jerseys and some sightseeing in Napier. That night you will enjoy a wine cellar dinner in the Strandveld. Accommodation: The Arniston Hotel Wednesday 17 September 2014 – WJCB Conference & Herd Visits (B,L,D) WJCB Council Meeting followed by a discussion with prominent people from Africa on the Jerseys ability to adapt and thrive on the continent (Nigeria, Rwanda, Kenya, Zambia and Mozambique). Following lunch you will visit herds at Jan Schoonwinkel and Suidplass Jerseys and view some merino rams. At dinner you will hear guest speaker Dr Koos Coetzee talking about the dairy situation in Africa. Accommodation: The Arniston Hotel Thursday 18 September 2014 – WJCB Conference & Mega Week Show (B,L,D) The morning will see you join in more of the conference and then the WJCB Meeting. In the afternoon you will depart for the heifer class judging at South Africa’s Agri Mega Week Show. Tonight’s dinner after you return to the hotel will be with the JETA Award Winners. Accommodation: The Arniston Hotel


Friday 19 September 2014 – WJCB Conference & Mega Week Show (B,D) This morning will feature a session on Genomics with specific reference to survival traits before you depart for the Agri Mega Week Show to see the judging of the cow classes. Lunch is at the showground and is your own responsibility. A farewell dinner will be held at the conference centre featuring the championship Jersey cheeses. Accommodation: The Arniston Hotel Saturday 20 September 2014 – Free Day (B,D) Return to Cape Town with a free day, perhaps some last minute shopping in Waterfront. A fun evening will be organised. Accommodation: The Protea Hotel, President, Cape Town Sunday 21 September 2014 – (B) Today is the conclusion of the first section of the South Africa Trade Mission. If you conclude the mission here you will transfer to Cape Town International Airport to return via Johannesburg to Australia. Inclusions: Return flights from Australia to Johannesburg or Cape Town. Accommodation as per the program (or similar), Transfer from Cape Town airport. Meals as per the program (B – Breakfast, L – Lunch, D – Dinner). Exclusions: Meals listed as (at own cost), Beverages & Drinks, Gratuities, Telephone calls, Laundry. Participants on Trade Mission B and D will then take part next leg of the mission which continues through South (refer onwards) firstly flying from Cape Town to Durban. ITINERARY CONTINUING FOR TRADE MISSIONS B AND D: SOUTH AFRICA Sunday 21 September 2014 – Cape Town to Durban (D) Groups on Trade Missions B and D transfer from the President Hotel to Cape Town International Airport from to take the early morning flight from Cape Town to Durban which is the largest city in the KwaZulu Natal Province. At Durban Airport your guide will meet you and drive to Umzinto on the Indian Ocean South Coast for a Jersey herd visit and lunch at Rosafield (Invernettie Est, Braemar) and to look at their sugar industry. Return to Durban in the afternoon where we do a short city tour. The rest of the afternoon is at own leisure to go to the beach. Dinner will be provided at the famous Roma Revolving Restaurant in Durban. Accommodation at either Edward Hotel, Durban or Umhlanga Hotel, Umhlanga Rocks, Durban Monday 22 September 2014 – Durban to Dundee (B,D) Depart from Durban with a visit the Howick Waterfall en-route to Mooirivier in the Natal Midlands area. Visit and lunch at Eternal Flame Dairy Operation. Drive from Ladysmith to Dundee which is in the KwaZulu Natal highlands. Dinner in hotel. Accommodation: Battlefields Country Lodge, Dundee Tuesday 23 September 2014 – Dundee to Swaziland Border (B,L,D) After an early breakfast a visit Orange Grove Dairy Factory and then on to Glynton Jerseys. Over lunch we visit the Talana Museum in Dundee. A local guide will present a talk on the battlefields and history of the area. Lunch packs can be enjoyed on the lawns surrounding the museum. During the afternoon we visit a Boer Zulu Battlefield. After the tour we drive via Vryheid to the resort where we overnight near the Swaziland border. Dinner in the hotel with Jersey farmers from Swaziland. Accommodation: Natal Spa Hot Springs close to Paulpietersburg.

Wednesday 24 September 2014 - Swaziland to Kruger National Park (B,L,D) Early morning meeting with Swaziland Jersey breeders. Then drive to Kruger Park region with a lunch stop on the way in Barberton which was at one stage the “Gem of the Lowveld” and the center of the gold rush when gold was discovered. Arrive late afternoon at our overnight hotel close to White River which is in the Lowveld area and famous for the growing of tropical fruit and nuts. Dinner tonight in the hotel. Accommodation: Protea Hotel The Winkler close to Kruger National Park Thursday 25th September 2014 – Kruger National Park (B,L,D) Depart early morning for the Kruger Gate in order to start the day at the crack of dawn as this is the time when all the animals are very active and the best chance to see some nocturnal animals and predators. All day open vehicle game drive with qualified game rangers in Kruger National Park who are extremely knowledgeable and who will do their best to show you the Big 5 as well as some other animals. Lunch at one of the rest camps in the park and dinner at restaurant in hotel. Accommodation: Protea Hotel The Winkler close to Kruger National Park Friday 26th September 2014 – Kruger to Johannesburg via the Panorama Route (B,L,D) Depart early morning and drive via the Panorama Route to Johannesburg. The Panorama Route is extremely scenic and includes the Blyde River Canyon lookout point, Bourke’s Luck Potholes, God’s Window, and the quaint town of Graskop. Lunch packs provided by hotel to be enjoyed en route. We arrive late afternoon at our hotel on the outskirts of Johannesburg. During the evening we enjoy the final farewell dinner and speech in hotel. Accommodation: Zulu Nyala Country Manor in Johannesburg Saturday 27th September 2014 (B) Delegates depart to OR Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg from where they could link on to the Namibia Tour or return to their country of origin. 3 Group Shuttles to the airport will be arranged. (No individual shuttles). Participants on Trade Mission B will depart from OR Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg for return to Australia. Participants on Trade Mission (D) will depart OR Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg for Windhoek, Namibia Inclusions: One way flight from Cape Town to Durban. Accommodation as per the program (or similar), Transport as per the program in an airconditioned luxury vehicle. Transfers to the airport in Johannesburg, Meals as per the program (B – Breakfast, L – Lunch, D – Dinner). Registered English speaking Tourist Guide, Farm visits as per the program. Excursions as per the program: Talana Museum, Blood River Battlefield, Blyde River Canyon lookout point, Bourke’s Luck Potholes, God’s Window. Full Day open vehicle game drive in Kruger National Park, Conservation Fees in Kruger National Park. Porterage in hotels and the airports. Exclusions: Meals listed as (at own cost), Beverages & Drinks, Gratuities, Telephone calls, Laundry.


ITINERARY FOR TRADE MISSIONS C AND D: NAMIBIA Departures: Trade Mission C - 21 September - 28 September 2014; Trade Mission D - 27 September – 5 October 2014 Day 1: Windhoek (B,L,D) On arrival at Windhoek Hosea Kutako airport, you are met by our Namibian English speaking guide and transferred to Hotel Safari, a three-star hotel in Windhoek. After check in enjoy a first taste of the local cuisine during lunch. After lunch we depart on a Windhoek city tour. Visit historic sites of Christus Kirche, Alte Feste, Reiterdenkmal (one of Windhoek’s most enduring symbols) & The Tintenpalast Parliament Gardens. For dinner the group departs to the cosy Joes Beerhouse, to enjoy the Namibian hospitality that Joes is so well known for. Accommodation: The Hotel Safari Day 2: Sossusvlei (B,L,D)HOEK After breakfast we depart Windhoek for Sossusvlei via the Spreetshoogte pass. Here we will stop for the best panoramic views of the Namib. Check in and lunch at the lodge. Namib Naukluft Lodge caters for the individual holidaymaker. Its architectural design allows unity with nature: backed by impressive granite hills, which are granting a natural protection against the East winds. Enjoy the stunning view onto the open plains from every room and the main verandah. At 16h00 we depart on a 2hr tour, in 4x4 vehicles, for a sunset trip and see the natural marble on White Marble Mountain. Accommodation: The Namib Naukluft Lodge. Day 3: Swakopmund (B,L,D) Depart lodge around 04h30 for Sossusvlei. Climb onto 4x4 Sossusvlei Dune shuttles for the 5km ride to the base of the dunes to watch the sun rise. Your breakfast box can be enjoyed under shady camel thorn trees near the dunes. Climb the highest dunes of the Namib and take picturesque photographs of the surrounding dune-landscape. The Atlantic Ocean is calling, as we make our way to the coastal town of Swakopmund, where we check into the famous Hansa Hotel. We will spend two nights at this hotel. We will spend the afternoon exploring the city with a guided tour. On this orientation tour, we will see the historical German buildings & architecture that Swakopmund is famous for. Amongst others, we also stop at The Kristall Galerie, home of the world’s largest quartz cluster & the Swakopmund Museum; Dinner at the Hotel. Accommodation: The Hansa Hotel. Day 4: Swakopmund (B,L,D) After an early breakfast we depart for Walvis Bay, where we will spend the morning cruising the waters of the cold Atlantic Ocean. You will see a shipwreck, Pelican point & the lighthouse, oyster platforms, different bird species and Cape Fur seals. Dolphins are also commonly spotted. Brunch platters, cold drinks, sparkling wine & fresh oysters are served on board the catamaran. From the ocean to the desert! Situated 10 km outside Walvis Bay, we travel to Dune 7, the highest dune in the world. The local municipality has planted palm trees and erected toilets and barbeque sites, fresh water is also available. It is the only man-made oasis in the dune belt. Accommodation: The Hansa Hotel.

Day 5: Twyfelfontein (B,L,D) After breakfast we depart for Twyfelfontein in the Kunene region (formerly Damaraland). Driving via the fishing village of Henties Bay, to the old mining town of Uis, and a chance to buy the semiprecious stones Namibia is so famous for. After check in and lunch at the Lodge, the group visits the areas famous rock engravings (UNESCO site) as well as the Burnt Mountain at the foot of the volcanic hills and the Organ Pipes, which are fascinating geological formations. Later that day we can relax around the sparkling pool, swop stories in the pub area, or investigate the unique Namibia plant life and walking routes around the lodge. Accommodation: The Twyfelfontein Country Lodge Day 6: Ethosha (B,L,D) After breakfast we will visit the Petrified Forest (National Heritage Site). The title Petrified Forest is a bit of a misnomer. It is neither a forest in the true sense of the word and neither did any of the trees 'turn to stone'. In prehistoric times huge tree trunks were washed down a river and deposited in alluvial sands. As they were isolated from any air, sedimentation turned the trunks into sandstone. Over time the organic materials of the wood dissolved. This an extremely slow process, and the petrified wood dates back about 200,000 years, since they first were washed down the ancient rivers. The group bids Damaraland farewell, and proceeds further northwards via Khorixas towards Etosha National Park. After lunch at the Etosha Safari Lodge, group departs in open 4x4 safari vehicles for an afternoon Game drive into Etosha National Park. Enjoy good photographic opportunities as the sun sets at the waterhole, and the animals come to drink. The lodge, situated on a hill, offers magnificent views of the African bush savanna. All of the 65 chalets have air-conditioners and mosquito nets and a choice of 3 swimming pools between them. Apart from the restaurant and bar there is a wooden platform for sundowners high above the mopani bush. The Andersson Gate into the Etosha National park is 9kms away. Accommodation: The Etosha Safari Lodge. Day 7: Kalkveld (B,L,D) We are up very early to head back into the Etosha National Park for a morning game drive. After breakfast we travel southward, via the Otavi mountainlands, through Otjiwarongo, one of the oldest and most established towns in Namibia before arriving at the lodge; Mount Etjo. Mount Etjo Safari Lodge, is set in the Okonjati Wildlife Sanctuary. The swimming pool and garden at the main lodge overlook a waterhole, where hippo, nyala and porcupine visit on a regular basis. The closeness of the animals here, offer an excellent opportunity for nature lover and photographer alike. Before dinner the group is taken to see the feeding of the lions, over sunset. A close encounter with plenty of adrenalin. After observing the Lion Feed, our farewell group dinner is served in a rustic African furnished Lapa, around a campfire. Accommodation: Mount Etjo Safari Lodge.


Day 8: Windhoek – Johannesburg – Australia (B) After breakfast the group bids farewell to the bush and we make our way to Windhoek in time for departure flights to OR Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg and then to Australia. This is the end of Trade Missions ( C ) and (D).

Although Hoeri Kwaggo Tours and Indonga Travel will assist where possible, they are not responsible to find roommates for passengers who wish to share accommodation. It is up to each passenger to find a suitable roommate. Until final payment has been received by Hoeri Kwaggo Tours and Indonga Travel the price is subject to change due to currency fluctuations, price increases beyond the control of Hoeri Kwaggo Tours and Indonga Travel and size of the group. They reserve the right to change the itinerary due to unforeseen circumstances.

Please note that minimum participants are required before this section of the Trade Mission will proceed. Based on minimum 10 persons travelling.

Participants may also be required to be vaccinated for Yellow Fever to allow entry back into South Africa. You will need to possess a vaccination certificate which will be required by Customs in South Africa airports.

Trade Mission Event Management Jersey Australia has contracted SOUTH EASTERN RURAL SERVICES to facilitate the event management of the 2014 Trade Mission to South Africa on their behalf. How to Register and Pay Early bird places are available strictly on a first-come, first-served basis and are subject to airfares and accommodation being available. To participate in this Trade Mission simply complete the Registration Form herein and mail or fax it along with full payment, on or before 31 March 2014. Payment must be in Australian Dollars. Send the completed and signed registration form together with payment to Robyn Barber of SOUTH EASTERN RURAL SERVICES. Payment may be made by cheque or electronic funds transfer. If using EFT please use your surname as the reference so that we can easily identify your payment. Cheques are to be made payable to South Eastern Rural Services. We regret we are unable to hold reservations without payment. DO NOT MAIL to the office of Jersey Australia, this will simply delay matters. Registrations Close Early Bird Registrations close on 31 March 2014. All Registrations close on 30 July 2014. Please note that registrations taken after 31 March 2014 will be subject to a higher price due to increased airfares and taxes and the availability of Pool Rooms at The Arniston Hotel in South Africa.. Bookings will not be taken after 30 July 2014. Prices Prices are subject to change .Prices listed herein are based on tarrifs in effect at time of publication of this brochure and on minimum enrolment numbers indicated under each program. Prices may alter if airline taxes increase or all Pool Rooms are taken or the discretion of Jersey South Africa. Costs are also inclusive of tax. The Event Manager reserves the right to adjust prices at a later date if necessary should tariffs or enrolment numbers change markedly or if a third party supplier increases their costs due to unforeseen circumstances such as changes to airport charges, road tolls, entry fees, fuel charges etc. Departures from Australia Flights will be leaving from either Sydney or Melbourne Airports. All participants will be required to make their way to these airports for scheduled departure. Likewise arrivals back into Australia will be to Sydney or Melbourne International Airports. Participants will then return to other States by their own arrangement. Special Dietary Requirements or Other Special Requests Please confirm any special dietary requirements or requests such as wheelchair/disabled access you may have on the registration form. While we will try to accommodate all requests, they cannot be guaranteed. Cancellations & Refunds All cancellations must be in writing via letter or fax addressed to Robyn Barber, Event Manager, SOUTH EASTERN RURAL SERVICES. Verbal cancellations either by telephone or in person are not valid. Cancellations made directly with hotels are also not valid. All cancellations received by SOUTH EASTERN RURAL SERVICES 60 days before arrival are subject to a per person cancellation fee. Cancellations received 60 days or less before arrival are totally not refundable. Participants are urged to purchase cancellation insurance. Should the mission not proceed due to minimum numbers not being attained then an applicable refund of the tour cost will be provided minus a handling fee. Airfare costs cannot be refunded. Passports, Visas & Other Travel Documentation You are reminded that many countries need an Entry Visa in order to enter or visit. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have valid passports, visas and re-entry permits which meet the requirements of immigration and other government authorities. Any fines, penalties, payments or expenditures incurred as a result of such documents not meeting the requirements of those authorities will be your sole responsibility. If you need information regarding visa and other travel document requirements please check with Department of Foreign Affairs. When arriving in South Africa you are required to have a passport valid for no less than six months after the expiry of your intended stay, and at least two completely blank pages on which your entry permit can be endorsed. If your passport does not comply with this requirement you can either be stopped from boarding the aircraft at your point of departure, or risk deportation on arrival in South Africa. A valid Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate is required for all passengers over one year of age who arrive or are transiting through South Africa, from a country or region listed by the World Health Organization as endemic for yellow fever. South African authorities will require all travellers arriving from yellow fever endemic countries to show proof of yellow fever vaccination, including travellers transiting through South Africa. Travellers unable to present a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate issued at least 10 days before arrival in South Africa may be refused entry or placed in quarantine. There is no discretion for travellers without a vaccination certificate to be vaccinated on arrival. Health You must ensure that you are aware of any health requirements for your travel and ensure that you carry all necessary vaccination documentation. Please check with your local doctor or specialist vaccination clinic. Liability SOUTH EASTERN RURAL SERVICES does not accept any liability of whatever nature, whether in contract, tort or otherwise, for the acts, omissions or default, whether negligent or otherwise, of third party providers whom we have no direct control. Under circumstances where liability cannot be excluded, such liability is limited to the value of the purchased tour arrangements. We do not accept liability in contract, tort or otherwise for any injury, damage, loss (excluding consequential loss), delay, additional expense or inconvenience caused directly or indirectly by force majeure or any other event which is beyond our control and which is not preventable by reasonable diligence on our part.
