SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE
2016 has so far been full of excitement with some Rock ‘n’ Roll, ballet, mountaineers and comedians coming through our doors. But the year is just getting started and there’s still a lot to happen this season. Musicals, bands, dance, studio shows, theatre... There is definitely something for everyone at Jersey Opera House! The legendary, record-breaking, Box Office smash hit thriller The Mousetrap returns this August with its 60th Anniversary production. For one week only we will have the possibility to see the longest running show of any kind in the history of theatre! This is definitely one not to be missed. This summer we will also have live music from Jersey’s own Nerina Pallot, G4, Soul Legends and acts from Whitney Queen of the Night, The best of Eagles performed by Talon and Sensation – a concert celebrating the music of The Who. Dance lovers can enjoy a complete programme starting with a showcase from Strictly Come Dancing favourites Ian Waite and Natalie Lowe, followed by Dance Impact World Cup 2

competition and A Night of Dirty Dancing celebrating the greatest movie soundtracks of all time. We also continue with our screenings from National Theatre Live, RSC and Branagh Theatre Live and a special André Rieu concert. We continue to grow the variety of our Studio programme with the one‑man play SID by Leon Fleming, and children’s performances of Teddy’s Zoo and Pinocchio. In 2015 to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Channel Islands from German Occupation we hosted a series of afternoon teas where islanders had the chance to share their wartime stories and memories of life back then. This summer join us for afternoon tea in our studio and watch a film of some of the local people who shared their experiences with us. Jasmine Hendry Theatre Director

STRAUSS’ ELEKTRA ENCORE SCREENING
The genius director Patrice Chéreau (From the House of the Dead) didn’t live to see his great Elektra production, previously presented in Aix and Milan, make it to the stage of the Met. However his overpowering vision lives on with soprano Nina Stemme— unmatched today in the heroic female roles of Strauss and Wagner—who portrays Elektra’s primal quest for vengeance for the murder of her father, Agamemnon. Legendary mezzo-soprano Waltraud Meier is chilling as Elektra’s fearsome mother, Klytämnestra. Soprano Adrianne Pieczonka and 6

bass-baritone Eric Owens are Elektra’s troubled siblings. Chéreau’s musical collaborator Esa-Pekka Salonen conducts Strauss’s mighty take on Greek myth.
