ADELA TRAN | LA QUINTA AFH THANKSGIVING DINNER November 23, 2017 With apple and pumpkin pies in hand and ready to donate, La Quinta KIWINNERs came eager to lend a hand at the American Family Housing Thanksgiving Dinner on Thanksgiving afternoon. At this event, members helped provide warm meals for the homeless by serving stuffing, drinks, gravy, bread, butter, and salt. Through their service, the volunteers were able to contribute to American Family Housing’s goal of serving 1,500 meals, and through this bring a sense of hope and hospitality to the less fortunate. The event was an opportunity to step back and remember one’s blessings as well as extend those blessings to others around the community. As Hanh Huynh eloquently puts it, “I got to interact with people of all ages. It warmed my heart that I was able to help those who were less fortunate than we are,” and this sentiment truly reflects the spirit of the holidays.
ALAN VU | GARDEN GROVE WE GIVE THANKS On November 22nd, 2017, GGHS KIWIN'S participated in the We Give Thanks event at the Anaheim Convention Center. We were tasked with cutting and dicing red bell peppers for the homeless and other clubs had different vegetables.
One
member
was
even
tasked
with
sweeping and cleaning up scraps that had fallen on the floor. Our club got to collaborate with the Circle K from UCI and they got to learn how volunteering impacted their lives in college. Overall the event lasted for 3 hours and after that everyone went home to enjoy their thanksgiving.
