LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR’S NOTE :

JOHNNY TRAN

WE GOT THAT SPIRIT STICK AYE WE GOT THAT SPIRIT STICK!!!! Thank you so much manatees for such an amazing November. Whether that was from having participated in the many service events from each of the schools in jet or being there and getting us that spirit stick thank you so much. Jet Division is the best division any ltg can ask for. Special shout out to my DLT and especially to my Media Correspondents and Spirit Captains for making amazing cheers and videos that got us that Spirit stick. Thank you to all Jet officers for working so hard during this time as well. As we still are stuck inside I admire how creative some of you have become through your service events. Its hard to find motivation during this time but Jet officers never fail to impress me. Thank you y’all so much. This division could not work without you. With passion and service,

Johnny Tran Jet Division Lieutenant Governor 2020-2021

MY KIWIN’S STORY KAITLYN VU

When I first heard of KIWIN’S, it was through one of my older sisters, who had been in KIWIN’S for a couple of years and had become a board member for the KIWIN’S at her high school. I had never heard of the club before, as I was still in middle school, but I became exposed to the club more and more as I frequently heard my sister asking our mom to drop her off at multiple KIWIN’S events. I always wondered what kind of club KIWIN’S must be to require my sister to be driven somewhere almost every weekend. I always heard my sister talking about events and meeting with friends, finding myself intrigued with this community my sister was a part of. At that age, I wasn’t really interested in interacting with as many people as my sister seemed to be, but once my high school’s club rush came around, my sister encouraged me to join KIWIN’S, and her excitement proved to be contagious. In my first year of high school, I joined KIWIN’S. Throughout my time in KIWIN’S, I was always extremely quiet, as I wasn’t the most social person, only taking time to talk with the friend I joined the club with. My school’s KIWIN’S was very small, and soon enough, I found myself interacting more and more with the other members of the club. The president was very kind and welcoming, and it was easier to talk to her than I expected it would be. Soon enough, the president approached me and encouraged me to apply for the position of president. It was a complete surprise to me, and I thought I'd be incapable of being good at such a role. However, knowing I had the support of the friends I made in KIWIN’S made me want to make the people around me proud. Now I can only hope to continue making KIWIN’S be a club that welcomes everyone, and makes them feel as if they’re part of an ohana.

PRESIDENTS’ CORNER EDISON KIWIN’S In the past month, Edison KIWIN'S finished our Red Ribbon Week activity partnership with OC Waymakers and announced the winners of our giftcard raffle! 5 winners were selected to win Starbucks giftcards for participating in our events! We also attended Virtual Fall Rally 2020 and attended the Jet Division Ding Tea Fundraiser. To end the month in the spirit of Thanksgiving, we are hosting a canned food drive for the OC Food Bank with 2 drop off days for members to attend!

FOUNTAIN VALLEY KIWIN’S This past month of November, Fountain Valley KIWIN’S hosted a wide variety of service events which with the help of our dedicated members, gained 419.5 hours. During our Doggy Chew Toy Making Zoom call, FV made 225 chew toys which were collected the following days and donated to the WAGS Adoption Center. We also attended divisional and district events including the DCM and Virtual Fall Rally. Our Thanksgiving Social was held on November 20th where we announced our annual families (Disney themed this year!) and bonded with our members through activities like Charades, Among Us, and Skribbl.io! The club also had a service event called Math for UNICEF, released our club t-shirt ($14 at bit.ly/fvclubshirt20), and started our Raising Cane’s Raffle Fundraiser (bit.ly/fvkiwinscanesrafle to win a Cane’s bucket!). Thanks for everyone who participated in events and/or supported our fundraisers!

GARDEN GROVE KIWIN’S Garden Grove KIWIN’S held a PTP movie social with Segerstrom KIWIN’S where members watched Sharkboy and Lavagirl together. In order to attend, members had to post an infographic about PTP onto their Instagram Stories. Additionally, over 200 messages from our Letters Against Isolation event were sent out to Westmont Village in Riverside. We also paid our dues just in time for the Early Bird Award, and we’re currently in the process of hosting a Live2Learn event through the organization KIVA.

LA QUINTA KIWIN’S In November, La Quinta raised 372.5 hours total! We had 4 service opportunities: Ecosia, Fall Rally, a food drive, and our Club Video! We had 23 of our members attend Fall Rally and they really enjoyed it! Our food drive was also very successful, as we were able to collaborate with clubs within our school and raise 624 lbs of canned food to the Orange County Food Bank. Lastly, we encouraged our members to participate in our Club Video and we are super proud of our results! :)

LOS AMIGOS KIWIN’S this month we’ve been participating in divisional events and having our own events as well! we have an ongoing service project which is a winter clothing drive and redbubble fundraiser. we’re also having board applications for new open positions as well! we have more events planned for december and keeping in touch through bi-weekly meetings and monthly socials :)

MARINA KIWIN’S The past month we had a general meeting and announced the families this year! They are organized by the nations in Avatar :)) We had a Jeopardy social with the families to get to know each other and earn family points as well.
