UCI LIVER WALK VOLUNTEERING

BROOK LA - OCSA KIWIN’S

5

On June 10th OCSA KIWIN’S went to Aldrich Park at UCI to volunteer and cheer on the participants of the UCI Liver Walk. It was inspiring to see everyone come support this cause and raise money for educational programs and patient services. Many of these participants were very kind and truly made this event wonderful. This photo taken at a tree during our break shows the happiness we felt while volunteering for such a great cause and being around so many motivational people. In this picture to the farthest left is Martin Nguyen (IP Vice President), next to him is Liberty Heras(Vice President), next to her is Brook La (Treasurer), and at the end to the farthest right is Derick Do (President). During service event Derick (President) really showed his support for the participants by dancing in a liver costume for everyone. It was such a cheerful event! This service event started at 7AM and ended at 12PM and at the end of it we didn’t even want to leave. It was truly an amazing experience getting to know others and dedicating our time to helping a wonderful cause/event that has helped/impacted so many people.

MOTIVATIONAL NOTES FOR FINALS TINA HAM - EDISON KIWIN’S During the last week of school, Edison students become outrageously stressed over the thought of finals and having to maintain or raise their grades before the semester ends. As a result, Edison KIWIN’S decided to give back to our members and the students of Edison High School by making motivational notes during the course of the week. At the last general meeting of the school year, members participated in this activity by writing kind or inspirational thoughts on sticky notes. Our officers then proceeded to hang posters around the school with the sticky notes stuck onto them. Through this, students could conveniently pass by the posters in halls and take a note whenever they please. The idea of our motivational sticky notes came from Edison High School’s CARE month where the ASB would hang up posters with thoughtful notes to bring awareness to our students in the SAC Program, or Special Abilities Cluster. The event was so effective, Edison KIWIN’S wanted to incorporate the same idea for other purposes such as AP testing and finals. For that reason, the considerate thoughts from Edison KIWIN’S members were able to eliminate the stressful atmosphere that came with the possibility of failing classes.
