Introduce yourself and welcome our guests. • Offer to escort guests to the restroom, Sanctuary, nursery, etc. • If you don’t know an answer to a guest’s question, take him or her to the Guest Services Desk where an Andrew Minister will be glad to assist Your small acts of hospitality may help create a more worshipful atmosphere for those who are seeking the Christ Child on this special night.

Looking Ahead to 2015 “Centered,” a Sermon Series by Dr. Davis Chappell, Begins January 3/4 The new year is a time of new beginnings, new possibilities and new resolutions. Resolutions however, are often short-lived. Refocusing our lives requires more than desire. It requires discipline. It begins not with what we do, but with what we think. Belief guides behavior. Our confession becomes our conduct. In his new sermon series “Centered,” Dr. Davis Chappell will lead us through a study of Colossians. This letter was written by an apostle of the Church to help disciples of Christ remain centered in Him. In the busyness and confusion of our lives, it’s easy to get offcenter. Join us as we seek to center our lives in the grace of God in Christ. As we rediscover our center, God will enable us to increase our witness! Starting Point Registration is Open Start off the New Year learning how to become more active in the congregational life of BUMC. CARING MINISTRY HIGHLIGHTS OF THE WEEK Career Transitions The Brentwood Career Transitions Support Group, sponsored by BUMC for nearly 25-years, provides career search advice and encouragement for individuals making a career or job change. Career Transitions is led by volunteers and offers a mix of keynote speakers, expert panels and other formats to train people how to find and get hired for that next job. Career Transitions is free and open to the public. The program meets in Haney Hall each Monday beginning at 6:30 pm. For latest schedule information visit bumc.net/career. Financial Coaching Financial coaching helps individuals learn how to be good stewards of their finances. Skilled volunteers meet with individuals or couples to help them create a budget, develop a plan for getting out of debt and to set savings goals. Financial coaching is available to anyone who wants to learn how to be more responsible with their money. Whether you find yourself in a financial crisis or if you just want to improve your money management skills so you can experience the joy of giving, contact Rev. Erin Racine, eracine@bumc.net. Financial and Food Assistance The Sower’s Fund assists families and individuals who are facing difficult financial situations by providing assistance in various forms primarily related to food, gas, utilities and psychological care. We also have many community partners that help us provide other types of assistance. Our hope is that the Sower’s Fund fulfills Christ’s call in Matthew 5:42 to give to those who ask and that out of these initial interactions we can build longer-term relationships that are centered on love of God and love of neighbor. The Sower Fund is funded through special offerings, donations and collections from the ThriftSmart bins located in the church parking lot. For every 10 lbs of donations to the ThriftSmart bins, BUMC receives $1 in giftcards to give to those in need of assistance.
