Missions & Outreach For more info on all missions call David Ssebulime at 342-8222 In simple and unique ways, BUMC missions and outreaches have been expressions of God’s love and presence to our local and global neighbors. Thanks be to God for your generosity and presence amidst ever-growing opportunities of service and presence. 2014, is here! Our doors are open and we are delighted about the many ways God is calling us to be in mission at home and abroad; to feed the hungry, educate the children, offer shelter, heal the sick, visit the prisons and clothe the naked. BUMC’s 15th Mission Trip to Mexico is January 4-12, 2014 A joint BUMC and Belmont UMC team are serving in South Central Mexico with Give Ye Them to Eat (GYTTE) (www.gytte.org). Join the Mission and Outreach Department and Missions Leadership Team as we pray for our 2014 Mexico Mission team members as they travel to serve: Dwight Armstrong, Jessica Armstrong, JR Armstrong, Rick Blahauvietz, Victoria Rebeck, John Kennedy, Raul Alegria, Morgan Stafford, Lee Zimmerman, and mission volunteers Joaquin and Barbara Garcia. GYTTE was founded in 1977 as a social outreach project of the Methodist Church of Mexico to combat hunger and poverty in the rural sector. The purpose of the GYTTE program is to strengthen the capabilities of marginalized people and communities to meet their basic needs, and to determine and sustain a just and integrated development process. Participatory methods and development tools are used to create conditions in which change can take place from within the communities. GYTTE uses people-centered approaches to development focusing, among others: on community development, agricultural development, a Community and Family Health Program - “More Than A Bandage”, and church and faith development.
