Step Up to Serve in the church and/or community
STEP
2012
Step Up! 2012 is our year-long emphasis of five core practices that lead to a stronger faith and a more vibrant church. These pactices include: worship, connect, invite, serve and give.
worship connect invite serve give
Thank you to all of you who participated in making Operation Overboard VBS 2012 a huge success! The children learned a lot about diving deeper into their faith with God. The most amazing part was watching the children get involved in our mission project. This year we chose a huge goal of raising $5000 to build a well in Sierra Leone, Africa through Just Hope International. The children passionately got on board with the idea of providing this community with clean water. We heard stories of children doing lemonade stands and calling grandparents. And it paid off. We not only reached our goal, we went “overboard” by raising $7053. Truly amazing! Christmas in July Many kids don’t have supplies to start the new school year. You can help by choosing an angel from the tree in the narthex on July 15 or 22 and shop for their supply list. Bring supplies to the Chapel Narthex by July 29. Benefits Harvest Hands, Franktown Open Hearts, United Way of Williamson County, and other organizations helping children. Checks also accepted – made payable to BUMC – Christmas in July. Contact: Klaire Davis, kmdavis_27@yahoo.com. Find Out What You Need to Know! Do you lead a small group? Facilitate a study? Teach a class? Make plans to attend the 2012 Teacher Summit: “What Those Who Lead Need to Know,” Sunday, August 5, 5:00 -8:00 pm. The evening includes an inspiring large-group ession & meal, and break-out workshops for age-level leaders and teachers. Childcare is provided with registration. Let us know you’re coming!
