Welcome Allison Gossett! Allison is our new Benevolence Coordinator and Consultant. Her position was generously funded by a grant from the BUMC Foundation. Over the next year, Allison will spend time meeting with people in need and administering the Sower’s Fund as well as meeting and researching with community organizations about how we might partner with them to address the root causes of poverty.

Sonshine Tour Home Concert Help us welcome home our senior high Sonshine Youth Choir from tour at a concert on Sunday, July 27 at 7 pm in the Sanctuary. Choir tours are important events in the lives of our youth and God works through the power of teenagers singing. Come as they share the love of Jesus through music and word. Fall 2014 Disciple Bible Study Classes Now Open for Registration Disciple Bible Study is an intensive, disciplined Bible study. Groups of 12-14 participants are led by 1-2 facilitators and meet weekly for 2.5 hours for 34 weeks. Disciple I, the prerequisite for all other Disciple Bible Studies, covers the entire Biblical story. Subsequent studies take Disciple graduates deeper into selected portions of Scripture. You may have noticed that the BUMC historical timeline has been removed from the wall near the elevator in the narthex. We’re excited to share that it will be part of a new archival and historical display that is being planned for the Turner Discipleship building. It is being carefully stored until plans are final for the historical display.

Serve Students and Children this Fall Connect to Our Rising College Freshmen Very soon our recent high school graduates will be heading off to college, and we’re looking for volunteers to help us support them along the way. Barnabas Friends are asked to send monthly notes to the students throughout the school year, and keep them in continual prayer. Serve our youngest disciples through leading Sunday School Our Children’s Ministry is currently looking for volunteers to join a team of teachers to lead an Elementary or Preschool Sunday School class beginning this fall. We welcome adult volunteers of all ages and stages! Time commitment: 1 or 2 Sundays a month, depending on the age/grade level. Please stop by one of our three trees located in the narthex, outside the chapel, and in the lobby to pick up an ornament and the coordinating supply list. Completed supply bags, once labeled, can be returned to the church and placed in the red bins near the trees. Harvest Hands (www.harvesthandscdc.com) Support Harvest Hands at The Nashville Sounds July 26th Through the month of July, Harvest Hands is the Nashville Sounds’ Charity of the Month. All ticket sales for the July 26th game purchased through the link found at our website: www.harvesthandscdc.com, will benefit Harvest Hands! At the July 26th game the Sounds players will be wearing a jersey designed by us and each jersey will be auctioned off during the game. The winners of each jersey will have a chance to meet the players and receive the jersey right from them after the game! This is a fun opportunity for you, your family, friends, Sunday School class or coworkers to have a great time and support Harvest Hands! Snacks and Juice Boxes Needed We are looking for individuals, families or Sunday School classes to donate snacks and juice boxes for our Summer Program. Snacks needed include: fruit snacks, granola bars, goldfish, teddy grahams, peanut butter crackers and 100 calorie packs. Juice boxes must be 100% juice. Snack sponsorships of $100 are also welcome.
