Sonshine Tour Home Concert Help us welcome home our senior high Sonshine Youth Choir from tour at a concert on Sunday, July 27 at 7 pm in the Sanctuary.

Choir tours are important events in the lives of our youth and God works through the power of teenagers singing. Come as they share the love of Jesus through music and word.

Fall 2014 Disciple Bible Study Classes Now Open for Registration Disciple Bible Study is an intensive, disciplined Bible study. Groups of 12-14 participants are led by 1-2 facilitators and meet weekly for 2.5 hours for 34 weeks. Disciple I, the prerequisite for all other Disciple Bible Studies, covers the entire Biblical story. Subsequent studies take Disciple graduates deeper into selected portions of Scripture. Serve our youngest disciples through leading Sunday School Our Children’s Ministry is currently looking for volunteers to join a team of teachers to lead an Elementary or Preschool Sunday School class beginning this fall. South Africa Sponsorship Dinner - Sunday, August 24 (RSVP by August 17) You’re invited to join our current South Africa Sponsors in celebration of BUMC’s educational sponsorship of 200 children at Thembelihle School and Brentwood Society Pre-School. Service Opportunity at Better Decisions Many Brentwood UMC women have experienced first-hand the satisfaction that comes from mentoring an incarcerated woman through the 8-week program with Better Decisions, a nonprofit organization that teaches decision-making skills to inmates at the Tennessee Prison for Women. Won’t you consider joining them this fall? The commitment involves: 1) attending the volunteer training weekend September 13-14 (9-1 on Saturday, 1-6 on Sunday), 2) meeting with your inmate partner for one hour weekly during the weeks September 22 - November 10, and 3) attending graduation at 6 pm on November. 17. Harvest Hands (www.harvesthandscdc.com) Elementary After-school Program Volunteers Needed We need volunteers for our 2014-2015 after-school program that runs Monday, Tuesday, Thursday from 3:45-6:00 and Wednesday and Friday from 3:45-5:30. The program begins Monday, August 18th. We ask that volunteers make a once a week commitment and are looking for individuals who care deeply for kids, want to help students learn more about Jesus and succeed in school.
