CARING MINISTRY HIGHLIGHTS OF THE WEEK Career Transitions The Brentwood Career Transitions Support Group, sponsored by BUMC for nearly 25-years, provides career search advice and encouragement for individuals making a career or job change. Career Transitions is led by volunteers and offers a mix of keynote speakers, expert panels and other formats to train people how to find and get hired for that next job. Career Transitions is free and open to the public. The program meets in Haney Hall each Monday beginning at 6:30 pm. For latest schedule information visit www.bumc.net/career. Volunteers are needed! Contact Shebbie at sshields@bumc.net. Financial Coaching Financial coaching helps individuals learn how to be good stewards of their finances. Skilled volunteers meet with individuals or couples to help them create a budget, develop a plan for getting out of debt and to set savings goals. Financial coaching is available to anyone who wants to learn how to be more responsible with their money. Whether you find yourself in a financial crisis or if you just want to improve your money management skills so you can experience the joy of giving, please contact Rev. Erin Racine, eracine@bumc.net. Financial and Food Assistance The Sower’s Fund assists families and individuals who are facing difficult financial situations by providing assistance in various forms primarily related to food, gas, utilities and psychological care. We also have many community partners that help us provide other types of assistance. Our hope is that the Sower’s Fund fulfills Christ’s call in Matthew 5:42 to give to those who ask and that out of these initial interactions we can build longer-term relationships that are centered on love of God and love of neighbor. The Sower’s Fund is funded through special offerings, individual and Sunday School class donations, and collections from the ThriftSmart bins located in the church parking lot. For every 10 lbs of donations to the ThriftSmart bins, BUMC receives $1 in gift cards to give to those in need of assistance. Currently, the Sower’s Fund is in great need of your support so if you would like to donate, make your check payable to BUMC and write “Sower’s Fund” in the memo line. In addition, as you do your Spring cleaning, don’t forget to put donations in our Thriftsmart Bin located outside of the Buchanan House. Thank you for your support! You can also make donations through the BUMC Access online giving by selecting “Sower’s Fund” to designate your giving. If you are interested in learning more about the ministry of the Sower’s Fund, please contact Allison Gossett, the Sower’s Fund Coordinator, at agossett@bumc.net or 615-324-7255.
