Below are six immediate ways to serve. For other ways to serve visit www.bumc.net. Help with the Habitat Build Stop by the Narthex to fill those last few volunteer spots, and prayerfully consider a financial gift to meet our fundraising goal. Thanks to your generosity, we’ve already raised $25,000 toward our $70,000 goal! The O’Neals are visiting with the Trinity campus this weekend, and we are looking forward to starting the build on April 14! Visit www.bumc.net/habitat. Serve as a Stephen Minister Stephen Ministers are trained lay persons who give confidential, one-on-one care to people who are going through a tough time. Stop by the Narthex to find out more about becoming a Stephen Minister. Ten new Stephen Ministers were commissioned in February: Bob Beckett, Paula Cryan, Bob Fink, Elecia Lewis, Karol Mangione, Darryl Mott, David Pettepher, Ginny Sanders, Linda Schneider, and Anne Schwartz. Be an Usher or Parking Lot Greeter During Holy Week & Easter Ushers needed for Maundy Thursday (7 pm), Good Friday (7 pm), and Easter (8, 9:30 & 11 am). Contact Kelli at khuston@bumc.net. Find Out How to Serve by Taking “Serving From the Heart” Class Mondays, April 16 - May 14, 6:30 -8:30 pm, Led by Carol Bumbalough Want to serve but not sure where you fit in? This five week class can help you discover how God has gifted and equipped you for joyful service. Serve in the New Patient Advocate Ministry Volunteers needed: Doctors, nurses, counselors, social workers and health care providers of all kinds as well as lawyers, respite and transportation volunteers. Patient Advocate Ministry, led by Executive Director and Nurse Practioner Tammy Hakim, exists to help patients and families navigate the complex world of the medical system. Step Up to Serve Habitat Quick Fact: BUMC has built more Habitat homes in Williamson County than any other sponsor. In fact, more than 1 in 10 homes built in the 15-year history of Habitat here in Williamson County have been sponsored by BUMC. This year’s home is being built in the shadow of BUMC’s Trinity Campus, and is the largest Habitat home ever built locally. Graceworks Ministries Food Pantry The food pantry is in urgent need of these specific items: Spaghetti sauce, Crackers, Boxed meals (such as Tuna or Hamburger Helper), Laundry detergent and Liquid dish detergent. Please, bring your donations to the collection bins in the Chapel Narthex or the bin located by the receptionist desk. Wednesday, April 18, from 6:00 - 7:30 pm, six people are needed to fill Fuel Bags, which are weekend bags for children. Our 14th Annual BUMC Habitat Build gets underway Saturday, April 14. Over 350 volunteers (16 years & older) are needed to build, and you can sign up today in the Narthex. Come work alongside the O’Neal family as we build their home together. Feel like building isn’t your gift? How about making lunch? Or taking pictures? Or sharing musical talents at the dedication June 3rd? Habitat offers all sorts of service opportunities, no matter your age or skills. A financial gift of any size goes a long way! harvest hands (www.harvesthandscdc.com) Harvest Hands is a catalyst for Christ-centered, wholistic community development working alongside our neighbors to further healthy living, education, spiritual formation and economic development in South Nashville. emPower Soccer Coaches Needed We are looking for volunteers to coach soccer for our 2012 season. It is a twice a week commitment with practices being held Mondays or Tuesdays at 6 pm beginning April 9th and games held on Saturdays beginning April 21st. The season ends May 19th.
