Lent at BUMC Conspiracy Theory: The Passion Story of Luke March 8/9: “An Inside Job”, Luke 22:1-6 Next week: March 15/16 “Religious Ambition” LUke 22:24-30 During Lent, Dr. Davis Chappell will lead us through Luke’s passion story in his sermon series entitled “Conspiracy Theory.” Invite a friend to join you as we journey through the last week of Jesus’ life as he confronts betrayal, political expediency, sacrifice and more. Adult Studies - Living Lent Together Begins Wednesday, March 12, 6:30 – 7:30 pm in the Sanctuary. Moves to the Chapel starting March 26. Join with others to reflect on the practices that help us to live into Lent. Each week we’ll have teaching on a different practice from a pastor or speaker followed by discussion in small groups. No registration is required. Childcare: 3 & under. “Reaching Out” A Women’s Study Tuesdays, March 11 – April 15
9:30 - 11:00 am; Led by Judith Bone
In Reaching Out Henri Nouwen explores the question; “What does it mean to live a life in the Spirit of Jesus Christ?” Register at www.bumc.net/register. No childcare. Starting Point Registration is Open If you’re interested in learning how to become more active in the congregational life of BUMC, then we encourage you to register for this five-week course which covers everything from beliefs to vision to membership. Our next session begins March 16 at 9:45 am. Childcare is available. Register at bumc.net/startingpoint or contact jbumgarner@bumc.net. Cokesbury Bookstore and Curriculum Fair – TODAY! Head downstairs to the Parlor today from 8:30am-12:30 pm. Our regional Cokesbury bookstore representative will be here with the latest curriculum and resources from the United Methodist Publishing House. Group leaders and individuals are encouraged to attend and our adult curriculum team will be available to answer questions and make recommendations. Looking for a few more people interested in joining a Small Group As new groups continue to form we have space for a few more people to be a part of groups that will meet on: [Tuesday’s 6:00-7:30 pm], [Wednesday’s 6:30-8:00 pm], & [Sunday’s 5:00-6:00 pm]. Contact Rev. Eric Burton-Krieger at eburtonkrieger@ bumc.net if you’re interested or visit bumc.net/smallgroups for details! It’s Not Too Late! Did the Oscars or the weather keep you away from last weeks Share the Spirit dinner and worship? Many enjoyed the dinner, auction, and the youth choirs led a wonderful time of worship music and testimony! But, the threat of freezing weather certainly effected the turn-out. If you wanted to be there but didn’t make it, would you please consider a donation? Church budget money is not used for these trips and Share the Spirit helps supplement the cost. Send your check to the church, made payable to BUMC with “Share the Spirit” in the memo. Important Parking Information The Ruby Tuesday lot is no longer available for BUMC parking. Unless you plan to dine there after a service, you may not park in the Ruby Tuesday lot. Violators will be towed. Instead, take the shuttle which makes continuous loops between the Narthex entrance and the Synergy lot across the street all Sunday morning.
