“Heroes” — May and June Sermon Series | May 10/11 - June 15/16 May 10/11 – “A Faith with a Past” Heroes: Lois and Eunice, 2 Timothy 1:3-7 Coming up next week: What is a hero? Someone in our midst through whom God is working to mend the world and establish an outpost of his kingdom. Join us for the next 6 weeks as we meet some little known heroes in the Bible and in our congregation and community. We will celebrate what God is doing through them and we’ll also You are gifted, Gifted. Called. Needed. have the opportunity to discover how God might want to called, needed. God is working through YOU. work through us as well. Do you have a hero story to share with us? God uses ordinary people to be heroes in other peoples’ lives. Who has God used in your life? Email your story idea to Carol Bumbalough at cbumbalough@bumc.net, putting “Heroes” in the subject line. We will be sharing stories in various ways and times from May 10 through June 15. Tornado Response Join us in prayer for the families who have lost homes, belongings and loved ones in the recent storms. UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) has people already on the ground in the areas affected by these storms who are assessing how best churches like ours might respond. To find out more or to donate, go to www.bumc.net/TornadoResponse.

Congratulations to all those being confirmed – including 101 6th graders and 8 youth! Confirmation preparation is a 4-month process of learning more about our faith. It culminates in the chance for young people to make a public affirmation of their faith, take responsibility for living as a member of the body of Christ, and to fulfill God’s purposes. Thank you to all the adult mentors and friends-in-faith who walked beside these young people as they prepared for this important step.
