Dear Friends in Christ, As many of you know Bishop McAlilly and the Cabinet of the Tennessee Conference has met to consult on pastoral appointments for the new conference year beginning in June, 2016. We are pleased to share that all of our BUMC clergy will be returning for another year. However, our Spring Hill campus (Trinity UMC) will have a pastoral change. After nine wonderful years, Mack and Sharon Strange will be appointed to the Fellowship UMC in Murfreesboro. This is a strategic move for Mack, and one that he has the unique gifts and graces to lead. We are so grateful for the Strange family, and are glad they will not be far from us! We are pleased to welcome the Reverend Michael Pence as the second pastor of Trinity UMC. He will be coming to us from St. Luke's UMC in Memphis. Previous to St. Luke, he served the Faith UMC in Oakland; he was an associate pastor at Covenant UMC in Cordova, and Colonial Park UMC in Memphis. While attending seminary at SMU in Dallas, he was also an associate at Lovers Lane UMC. Michael has a passion for reaching people with the Gospel. He is experienced in creating and establishing contemporary worship. He has done doctoral work at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and is currently completing his DMin degree at Wesley Theological Seminary. Michael is married to Samantha. Samantha has been the Principal at New Hope Christian Academy in Memphis over the last several years. She will continue her teaching career here. They are the proud parents of Emma Grace (11) and Mary Campbell (8). The Pence family is grateful to return home to Middle Tennessee. Michael is a graduate of Mt. Juliet High School and Austin Peay.
Samantha is a graduate of Cookeville High School and Lambuth University. As we give thanks to God for Mack and his family, we also welcome Michael and his family to the BUMC family! Please keep them in your prayers! Finally, it was good to welcome Copeland Elizabeth Norman and Kinleigh Catherine Stutts as new members to our Brentwood campus. Welcome to our church community. Yours in Christ,
Davis
