Friends in Christ, I was greeting people in the Narthex before the Maundy Thursday service during Holy Week, and a few parishioners said, "Well, there's our celebrity!" What? "Yes, you were on the BUMC Facebook page about your interview with the Tennessean about Stations of the Cross and the prayer labyrinth walk." This called for a true confession. While I have a Facebook page, I only check it about once every 6 weeks or so. (Note to all parishioners: If you "liked" me, I probably didn't know about it. I "liked" BUMC but never checked it! Teach me to keep up!!) That's the point of this sermon series - What does it mean to "Like Jesus"? We proclaim as our vision statement, "Living Like Jesus, Bringing Joy to God" and yet we're wondering what it really means to "Like Jesus" and go from being a fan who likes him to a follower who loves him and serves him. And an even bigger question - why would we want to go from fan to follower? The answers uniquely belong to us. I'll give you my answer. What's yours? Please join us this Saturday and Sunday as we explore Matthew 7:24-29, and what it means to build a house on a firm foundation, according to the parable of Jesus. Our Habitat build begins this Saturday, April 13, which also happens to be the 2nd birthday of the little boy who will be living with his mom in this new home we're building together.
