Dear Friends in Christ, Last night's musical warmed our hearts. Hearing our children read the Scriptures and sing their praises to God filled us with joy! There is something about Christmas that brings out the child in all of us. As they led us in worship, Sherre and I sat behind one of our couples who were holding their baby. As we listened to the presentation, we were captivated by the joy and wonder of this beautiful child. For a few moments I was lost in the thought that God actually sent His Son to us in the form of a child, much like this little one that we were witnessing. No matter how young or old we grow, there is something about this season that reminds us that we are sons and daughters of God, made in His image, born of His love, empowered by His Spirit to share the Good News. Thanks to our children for this special night! I want to give you an update on our stewardship. The sharing of our tithes and gifts is one of the ways that we honor God. It is a mark of discipleship. An estimate of giving card is an intentional way of placing God first in our lives, and partnering with our sisters and brothers in Christ in the work of the kingdom. • As of Wednesday, December 9, we have received 937 pledges for a total of $5,322,236. We are grateful for these commitments! • We concluded our 2015 stewardship emphasis with 1,183 pledges for $6,055,713, which represents a 17% increase from 2014. • We still have some ground to cover for 2016. Our average pledge is up from last year about 10% ($5,680 vs $5,119). And our non-pledged giving has been very strong this year, at $1,700,000 (to date). These are things to celebrate! Your estimate of giving card helps us to prepare our ministry goals for the new year. Our hope is to see every member participate.

As we continue in the joyful anticipation of Advent, I invite you to join us in partnering together in these 4 ways: 1. Continue to pray for the ongoing ministries of BUMC. 2. Click here to complete an estimate of giving card online or you can find one in the pew racks. 3. Do your best to complete your pledge for this year. 4. Be present for our Advent & Christmas Eve services on December 23 or 24. Click here to find service times. May the God of hope, peace, joy and love be with you during this holy time. Yours in Christ,

Davis
