Dear Friends, This past weekend was a very special time! Sherre and I certainly felt the presence of God's Spirit in the worship services and in your warm welcome! It is a great joy to join you in ministry. Before the 8:30 am service on Sunday morning, I went to the choir room to pray with the youth choir. When I walked into the rehearsal space, Dr. Davis Chappell they invited me to come and stand in front of them. James Wells then directed them in singing to me (an audience of one) a song called "Welcome." These are the lyrics: "Let's walk together for awhile and ask where we begin To build a world where love can grow and hope can enter in, To be the hands of healing and to plant the seeds of peace, Singing welcome, welcome to this place. You're invited to come and know God's grace. All are welcome, the love of God to share, cause all of us are welcome here. All are welcome in this place." It was a moment I will never forget. Their message in song made me feel right at home. As the processional began, I felt a deep sense of gratitude for the grace that I experienced in the faces and voices of our students. Join me in lifting them in prayer as they embark this weekend on their tour. May God fill them and bless them as they go forth to share the welcome of God's grace with others. I hope to see you this Sunday in the place where all are welcome! Finally, it was good to welcome Ann Bates, Vicki Bullard, Julie Wehrmeyer and Beverly Giuliani as new members.
