Dear Friends in Christ, Sunday, April 26 was a day to remember! 136 confirmands, youth and their parents publicly professed their faith and joined the body of Christ here at BUMC. The Saturday night service prayed for them. And the Sunday morning services witnessed them offering their lives to Christ. It was a high and holy day! I am including the names of those who joined us on that day at the conclusion of this e-Note. It was also meaningful to move from that day of profession into the May sermon series "Who Needs the Church?" Each weekend in worship we will be thinking together about the nature, purpose and role of the Church. Last week, we began with the question: "Do you have to come to Church to be a Christian?" This week the question is: "What does it mean to be the church?" The text we will be considering is Mark 3:31-35. I also wanted you to know that our own Eric Burton-Krieger will be appointed in late June to a large sister United Methodist Church in another conference as their Pastor of Adult Ministry. We have been asked by the bishop of that conference not to share the specifics of the move until the cabinet there has finished their work, and an announcement can be shared with both congregations. We are very sorry to see Eric move on, but are very proud of him, and the work he has done in our community. It is a compliment to him and to BUMC that he has been sought out for this position. Many of you have come to know Eric's wife Meagan during their time at BUMC. We are grateful that Meagan will remain in Nashville with us for, at least, the next year. This will allow her to complete her Ed.D at Vanderbilt, and to continue as a youth small group leader in our
