Wolfgang News John Marshall High School | August 2013

CNH Key Club Region 7 Division 3 South

Letter from the Editor Welcome back Wolfgang! I hope you all were able to come to our first meetings of the year, and even if you weren’t no worries! We will be convening in the Boy’s Gym every Wednesday at lunch so stop by when you can to hear what we’re up to and make some new friends in the process! This past month we held a Movie Night fundraiser for Pediatric Trauma Program, one of the charities Key Club is closely affiliated with. Furthermore we volunteered at the Children’s Festival of the Arts, the ever popular 626 Night Market, Ronald McDonald, and Dorris Place Elementary for their monthly clean-up! We also kicked off the school-year with our card-making for the patients at the local Children’s Hospital. Suffice it to say, this year is already on track to be a great one with the core of our club being strengthened by this years’ new additions to our Wolf Pack. With Fall Rally just a few months away, let’s start this year off with a roar of SERVICE! Your Bulletin Editor, Raymond Lobaton

Children’s Festival of the Arts

As a volunteer for the 28th Annual Children’s Art Festival my fellow key clubbers and I woke up bright and early to help set up tables, chairs, etc, and we even got to inflate our own balloons! Once the festival began I helped a booth prepare material to make paper dolls. It was so much fun to be able to work with little kids and help them with their project. A girl that I had helped out was even excited to show me her finished doll. These small meaningful moments encourage me to work hard and remind me of why I volunteer. -Tiffany Chan Senior Class Representative

On August 11th, I volunteered at the 28th Annual Children's Festival of the Arts at Paramont Studios. Many key club members and I woke up early to help set up the area prior to the actual event. We inflated a whole bunch of balloons as well as set up tables, chairs and signs. Once the festival began, we were given the opportunity to greet the attendees, hand out programs, and pass out balloons to the children (which was personally my favorite part of the event) It was just fun to walk around the festival with this huge bouquet of balloons in my hand. To ask what color they wanted and to see each and every one of their smiling faces after I gave one... was just wow. It was absolutely the best thing ever!

Member of the Month

John Marshall Key Club would like to honor Sreymich Lach as Member of the Month for August!

Sreymich Lach

This month, Sreymich has displayed that she is not a typical sophomore, but rather one who has grown into a dedicated leader. Though our summer was relaxing, Sreymich showed her interest in volunteering, getting up and spending time at Ronald McDonald House and Dorris Place Elementary School. On top of preparing tacos and bread rolls for families in the House, she demonstrated her delight in offering what she can to help create a better environment for the children. She always smiled to our Kiwanis and the families, showing her affability and glee in service. Her volunteering at Dorris Place Elementary School illustrates this as well through preparing classrooms and learning materials for young students. She distinctively displays her passion in what she does. In school, Sreymich is a brilliant student and an athlete of John Marshall’s volleyball team. Aside from our astonishment that she finds time to partake in Key Club events with her busy schedule, we are proud to have such an ardent member in our family.

Officer of the Month

For the month of August, the officer of the month is our Arbyn Olarte!

Arbyn Olarte Sophomore Class Representative

Arbyn is our Sophomore Representative. This month he has taken the initiative to not only attend events such as Ronald McDonald House and the Children’s Festival of the Arts, but also offer his help with Board duties. At Ronald McDonald House, Arbyn is always quick to complete his tasks efficiently and effectively. His is always prepared to lend a hand, especially when cleaning extra tables and family rooms in the facility. At the Children’s Festival of the Arts, Arbyn did not hesitate to lift a hand when others had difficulty carrying tables and hanging balloons on fences. Though he often appears composed, many can see his joy in serving for the betterment of the younger generation. He is commendable for his efforts to further Key Club’s message to serve and improve the community through fostering leadership and friendship. Arbyn’s work ethics are admirable, we are ecstatic that he is Augusts’ officer of the month, he is deserving of this distinguished title.

Are you interested in joining a club that could CHANGE your life? Does a club which allows you to help your community while molding you into a ROLE MODEL and a better LEADER in the process interest you? Would you want to be somewhere where you can grow inseparable FRIENDSHIPS and BONDS? If so,

You should join KEY CLUB!! Where CARING is our way of life!
