Pancake Breakfast
My experience at the pancake breakfast in the Vons parking lot was one I will never forget. I met very interesting people there and caught up with some friends from the Boy Scout unit that was there. I went with friends and we had a nice morning enjoying each other’s company and a delicious pancake and sausage breakfast. My girlfriend and I had an extra ticket, which we had given to a homeless man whom we later saw enjoying pancakes later that day. It was a fun and social experience and I will definitely do it again another time. -Michael Park

Verdugo10k This past month, I attended the Verdugo 10k Hike & Run division event to help set up and assist with serving breakfast to the runners. It was an amazing experience as I was able to meet new people from our division as well as reconnect with people I had seen during previous division events. When my friends and I arrived, we received an official T-shirt and badge for volunteers only, helping us feel appreciated for our dedication to service. We were then served breakfast, which consisted of pancakes and sausages along with a beverage. In my opinion, they were some of the best pancakes I’ve ever tasted! During the downtime, I was able to strengthen my friendships with fellow Key Clubbers from my division as well as our home club, bonding over the delicious pancakes and the joy of giving back to the community. When the time to volunteer had come, the staff members were more than happy to see us and gave us tasks to complete. Soon, runners came by and thanked us for our help, which brought smiles to our faces. Everyone who was involved with the event was truly a pleasure to work with, as they cracked jokes and made the hard work worth the effort. Overall, it was an unforgettable service event and I would encourage everyone to attend next year! -Brian Woo

Month of May 2015 Member of the month: Kristian Dela Cruz Congratulations to Kristian Dela Cruz for being the Member of the Month for the month of May! Ready to cross the stage in a handful of days, this senior has gone above and beyond with his involvement in Key Club this month, and for a large part, most of the year! Kristian was up bright and early for the Verdugo 10k Run & Hike in nascent May, where he helped set up for the event. He also attended the Los Feliz/Hollywood Kiwanis Club’s annual Pancake Breakfast on May 9th, where he cleaned up after attendees had had their sausage and pancakes. Needless to p.6 Officer of the Month p.8 Board and say, Kristian has been a valuable member of our club, and we are sad to see him go. However, we know that he has a very bright future ahead of him! We hope to see his dedication to service flourish in the coming years, and we know that his caring personality will foster great friendships in the years to come. With that said, Kristian’s friendship through Key Club was truly splendid - we hope that he will have his old friends in his heart as he moves on to new adventures. Here’s to you, Kristian!

Month of May 2015 Officer of the month: Camea Pascual Congratulations to Camea Pascual, our historian, for being the recognized outstanding officer for the month of May 2015! This past month, Camea found her passion in Key Club, attending various events while capturing great memories for the club to look back on. At the beginning of this month, she attended the Verdugo 10k Run & Hike event, in which she participated in cheering on the runners and helping set up while displaying her colorful personality. Camea also attended the Officer Training Conference on May 16th to better her skills as our very own photographer and formed bonds with fellow Key Clubbers from our counterpart division, Division 3 North, while strengthening her friendships with her own division and home club board members. Overall, Camea has done an excellent job in exhibiting her spirit for Key Club and we look forward to seeing her grow as a Division 3 South servant-leader as the term goes on. Go Camea!
