Love Share Walk The Love/Share 5k/10k Run/Walk event was an incredible experience. Held during the early hours on the still sleeping streets of Koreatown, this event brought together many Key Clubbers. Besides from meeting new members of our own club, the Marshall Key Club fam got to reunite with friends from Hollywood High Key Club, and meet new ones from STEM Academy. At 6:30 AM, volunteers were given shirts and instructions to begin setting up tables and chairs under the readymade tents. We were split up into groups, with some individuals manning the water station, inputing runner information on laptops, or arranging medals for distribution. A few hours later, you could practically hear the nervous thumps of the runners’ heartbeats - the race was about to begin. Volunteers leaned over the railing at the start line, voices ready, enthusiasm at max as the start line “caution” tape was released, with the buzzer sounding - the race was on. After about 40 minutes, the last of the runners began to file into the area. Key Clubbers helped pass out water, clean up trash, and take raffle tickets. All too soon, the event was over. After a hard day’s work, all of the volunteers were given recognition certificates, and the day was capped off with a majority of our club’s volunteers hanging out at the near-by Denny’s for brunch. Needless to say, this event promoted a healthy lifestyle for many, while instilling amongst our members a new found fervor for service.

Baby 2 Baby
During the Baby 2 Baby event on the 14th of September was extremely fun! It was my first time attending that event so it felt great knowing that this organization indeed does help out so many parents in need for items for their kids. At the same time it's a heart touching experience due to the stories that were told during a quick video that the organization put together. I'd definitely like to go back to volunteer there!

Month of September 2015 Member of the month: Gicele Sotelo Congratulations to our newest member, Gicele Soto, for being the Member of the Month for the month of September! Gicele joined Key Club right at the start of this month, and has hit the ground running! She’s attended ALL of the volunteering events we’ve had to offer this month – she’s truly stellar! After spending some time with her at events, one will shortly realize the amount of dedication and enthusiasm Gicele holds for helping out her p.6 Besides Officer of theGicele Monthhas adequately demonstrated p.8 Board and community. that, some of the Key Club core values as she’s pushed herself to meet new members at events, actively proposed new ideas and asked questions to club officers, and shown a great care for the many things she does with our club. When she’s not improving her community via service, you can find Gicele painting, working on our school’s yearbook, or listening to some of her favorite bands! We’re so grateful to have Gicele as a member of our ohana, and we look forward to the time we get to spend with this senior as another successful Key Club term is on its way towards completion.
