Os rapazes cresceram como irmãos mas o destino separou-os à força. Azur, obcecado pelas histórias que a sua ama lhe contara sobre a Fada dos Djinns não descansa enquanto não a encontrar. Azur e Asmar, agora crescidos e rivais, embarcam numa busca pela Fada que os vai levar a terras mágicas, cheias de perigos e maravilhas. Once upon a time, two children were nursed by the same woman: Azur, the blonde, blue-eyed son of a nobleman, and dark-haired, dark-eyed Asmar, the nurse’s child. The boys grew up together like brothers, until fate separated them brutally. But Azur, haunted by his nurse’s tales of the legendary Fairy of the Djins, will not rest until he finds her. Now grown, and now rivals, the blood brothers embark on a quest for the Fairy. They background out in search of magical lands, rich with dangers and wonders.

MICHEL OCELOT

Nascido na Riviera Francesa, Ocelot cresceu entre a Guiné e o Vale do Loire até assentar em Paris. Dedicou toda a sua carreira ao cinema de animação e desde sempre todas as suas obras têm sido baseadas nos seus próprios argumentos e desenhos. Entre as suas curtas metragens destacam-se “The 3 Inventors” (1980 Bafta para melhor filme de Animação), e “The Legend of the Poor Hunchback” (1983 César para melhor curta de animação, Paris). Em 1998, Michel Ocelot ficou conhecido do grande público graças à sua primeira longa metragem “Kirikou and the Sorceress”. A seguir realiza Princes and Princesses, contos de fadas em teatro de sombras, em animação de recortes e Kirikou and the Wild Beasts, com Bénédicte Galup. Azur & Asmar (2007), é a sua quarta longa, outro conto de fadas passado em ambos os lados do Mediterrâneo. Foi selecionado para a Quinzena dos Realizadores no Festival de Cannes. A sua última curta metragem, “Dilili in Paris”, passado na Belle Époque, ganhou em 2019 o prémio César, a maior distinção de cinema de França. Born on the French Riviera, Michel Ocelot spent his childhood in Guinea, grew up in the Loire valley and then settled in Paris. He has dedicated his entire career to film animation. Since the beginning, all his works have been based on his own scripts and graphics. Among his short films, he directed The 3 Inventors (1980 Bafta for best animated film, London), followed by The Legend of the Poor Hunchback (1983 César for best animated short film, Paris). In 1998, Michel Ocelot became known to the general public with the success of his first feature film Kirikou and the Sorceress. He then released Princes and Princesses, fairy tales in a shadow theatre, using cut out animation, and Kirikou and the Wild Beasts, co-directed with Bénédicte Galup. Azur & Asmar (2007), his 4th feature film, is another fairy tale, set on both sides of the Mediterranean. It was selected for the Cannes Film Festival for its Director’s Fortnight. His last feature film, “Dilili in Paris”, set in the Belle Epoque, won the 2019 Cesar award, France’s highest film honor.
