monaco show preview The must-see moments at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show, running from September 24 to 27
This year’s Monaco Yacht Show is bigger and better than ever, with expanded dock areas for the superyacht and, of course, the extraordinary new Yacht Club de Monaco proudly surveying the harbour (see our news story on page 114). Once again, we are very pleased to bring you our Monaco Show Preview in partnership with bespoke furniture-maker Linley. You can catch up with Linley at the show on the company’s stand in the Darse
10
Nord tent at QD2, and for a look at the magnificent Linley Quantum Screen in our Ultimate Design section, starting on page 92. You’ll find SuperYacht World in the Darse Sud tent at QS85 – stop by if you’re passing. There are scores of new yachts to see, and a host of new concepts, but the real joy of the Monaco show is bumping into the many owners who have become our friends over the past few years.

farfalla Southern Wind Shipyard TBC Why is she so special? Launched in June, Farfalla is the third hull in Southern Wind’s 102 series and the first one with the ‘RS’ designation for ‘raised salon’. She has been built for a very passionate owner, who will alternate personal cruising with chartering (she joins the charter market in September). As we went to press, the yacht was on her 7,000-mile maiden voyage from Cape Town to the Mediterranean. The owner’s cabin is forward and there are three other guest suites. Why is she so special? mangusta 165
Overmarine Group Quai de l’Hirondelle
Why is she so special? The eighth in this hugely popular series, and a real beast – the 50-metre yacht delivers a 38-knot top speed. The owner specified four cabins below rather than the standard six, creating plenty of room below. Look out for The dramatic exterior profile. The owner of this 165 wanted even more aggressive and muscular lines, so the Overmarine Group’s design department specced a new side window on the main deck – a large single panel of glass in the salon that offers excellent visibility from inside and allows copious amounts of natural light in, as well as creating an impressive sight on the water. Saramour CRN TBC
Why is she so special? With exterior and interior styling by Francesco’s Paszkowski, CRN’s new 61-metre is a clean-lined and striking yacht. Inside, a key element is the use of artworks from the owner’s collection – from modernist paintings in the main salon to sculpted figurines recessed into the owner’s study. The yacht’s AV and domestic systems (curtains, air-con and lights)
have been specified from Videoworks, and can be guest controlled by iPad. Look out for Saramour’s dedicated owner’s deck. Bellagio Stand QD62
The 16-metre Vripack design Bellagio was launched by Mulder earlier this year and won’t be at Monaco, but you can find out all about the project on Vripack’s stand. The aluminium day cruiser has very sporty lines, with the eye-catching wheelhouse roof adding an elegant touch (the windows open and the roof lifts). Below, the boat has the option of a two or three-cabin layout. The area forward sundeck looks a good spot to be under way for a true wind-in-the-hair experience. Equipped with Zeus drives and a Skyhook system for perfect positioning, the boat reaches over 35 knots. Contact www.vripack.com
