The 2012 Monaco Yacht Show preview

Why is she so special? The vertical bow and noticeably funnel-like mast structure give Aslec 4 a very singular profile. Launched by the Rossinavi yard earlier this year, the striking steel and aluminium semi-displacement yacht is being marketed by Edmiston for €26.125 million. Much emphasis has been placed on outside spaces, with the aft areas on the main and bridge decks likely to prove very popular with those on board. Guests can also make use of a substantial seating and dining area on the foredeck. The Rémi Tessier interior is as eye-catching as the exterior styling. It’s predominantly light in feel, with sanded oak

contrasting with ebony, and flashes of gold foil on the walls adding another accent. Together it makes for a very relaxed environment. Look out for With so many innovative features it’s hard to pick a highlight, but the exterior styling by Spadolini deserves much credit for reinventing the lines of a 45-metre superyacht and producing one of the coolest and most distinctive yachts of the year. mogambo

Nobiskrug T Central Berth T04 Why is she so special? The brief for Mogambo, the new 74-metre Nobiskrug launched earlier this year, specified expansive exterior spaces, and Nobiskrug has delivered. Slightly smaller interior volumes than yachts of a similar LOA allow for huge deck spaces for sunworshippers, including a large forward hot-tub with built-in lie-down loungers, and an outdoor cinema on the aft sundeck. Reymond Langton’s interior is stylish, imposing and sleek, and the exterior features ebonised teak and stainless steel finishes. A roomy

observation area on the bridge deck is unbeatable for taking in the views, and it merges almost seamlessly into the foredeck. The yacht is being shown by Hill Robinson. Look out for The sundeck gym, with glass doors opening on to the forward deck for post-workout relaxing. DATA LOA: 73.51m. Beam: 12.60m. Exterior/interior: Reymond Langton Design. Imperial Princess

Princess Yachts Quai Etats-Unis Berth E15 Why is she so special? Princess Yachts’ 40-metre Imperial Princess is the yard’s biggest-ever launch and its first tri-deck. The owner of the yacht has opted for the five-cabin layout, with two VIPs and two twin cabins below, and the full-beam owner’s suite forward on the main deck. The interior styling, in collaboration with Bannenberg & Rowell,

features horizontal-grained satin walnut on the bulkheads, with wenge for the flooring on the main deck and walnut in the sky lounge. There are plenty of outdoor spaces for entertaining, and the sundeck boasts a bar and hot-tub, though the generous space on the bridge deck aft will be a popular haunt. Twin MTUs deliver a top speed around 22 knots.

20th-Century Dutch industrial design. The four guest suites below are configured as two doubles and two twins. The owner’s suite is aft on the bridge deck, offering great views aft and a greater sense of privacy. It Photograph: Klaus Jordan

Why is she so special? The eighth yacht in Heesen’s hugely successful 47-metre displacement series has a particularly demanding owner: retiring founder and head of the company Frans Heesen. The Bannenberg & Rowell interior is particularly striking. The design team have brought in some typically eclectic styling cues – in the case of Lady Petra, the influences come from

might as well be dubbed the quiet deck: as Heesen says: “It will offer the owners more privacy and calm during periods when their numerous grandchildren are on board.” DATA LOA: 40.00m. Beam: 8.85m. Monaco in brief

Lyana

Benetti Quai Etats-Unis Berth E02 Why is she so special? The blue-hulled 60-metre Benetti Lyana cuts a striking figure on the water, but on board the message is entirely serene. On the sundeck, with plenty of places to explore, guests are spoilt for choice, and on the bridge deck you can head inside to the lounge or through the glass doors into a massage room and gym. The mix of macassar ebony and anigrè in the main salon continues the relaxing theme. On the main deck forward the owner benefits from a huge screenable skylight that really does promise sleeping

under the stars. All the guest cabins have marble baths. Look out for The delightful central stairwell with its illuminated central pillar that rises through the decks. On the surface of the walls is a specially commissioned canvas painting on a marine theme. DATA LOA: 60.00m. Beam: 10.40m. Exterior: Natucci Stefano. Interior: Zuretti/ Pyerre-Yves Rochone. MONI

Vicem Quai Chicane and myriad lounging areas, while the full-beam master is amidships on the lower deck, where there are also two guest doubles and two twins. The warm interior, where satin woods and leather are keynotes, was created by Vicem’s craftsmen to the owner’s brief. Look out for The split-level main salon, with a raised dining area forward and extensive

seating aft – this is the perfect evening spot for guests as it’s a light area that benefits from big windows. DATA LOA: 32.50m. Beam: 7.30m. Exterior/interior: Vicem Yachts Design Team. Guests: 9. Crew: 4. Range: 1,500nm @ 11 knots. Contact: Vicem Yacht. Website: www.vicemyacht.com

Why is she so special? Vicem’s cold-moulded building process might be traditional but don’t for a moment think there is anything old hat about it. The use of laminated mahogany and a specially formulated epoxy resin means the new 107 boasts a hull that is strong, quiet and better able to cope with humidity. She has been built for some SATISFIED customers. She’s the owners’ THIRD Trinity

Lady Linda

Trinity Yachts T Central Berth 10 Why is she so special? The tri-deck semidisplacement aluminium 50-metre, delivered in July, has clearly been built for some satisfied customers – she is the third Trinity for this Florida couple. And the yacht had to be designed with a very particular berth in mind: behind the couple’s Florida residence. They also wanted to ensure that the guests have equally sized suites, each of which is

exquisitely detailed with granite, marble and soft, earthy colours in a contemporary interior by Evan K. Marshall, who was also responsible for the exterior styling. Lady Linda is available on charter through Burgess for €350,000pw (high season)/€322,000pw (low season) in the Mediterranean in the summer and the Bahamas in the winter. The yacht is on brokerage with IYC for $49.8 million.

Look out for The air-conditioned bridge deck aft, which is a perfect space for dining, and the sundeck, which boasts floor-to-ceiling glass doors to deflect the wind, as well as a large bar and hot-tub. eye-catching feature but it is only for emergency use. There is an oversized, fully equipped spa on the lower deck with a large opening balcony. Twin CATs deliver a top speed of 17 knots. Why is she so special? Proteksan’s biggestever yacht was launched in June. With interior and exterior styling by H2 Design, there are some similarities with last year’s 70.5-metre Talisman C (also featuring H2 Design’s work), but Vicky has many more curves in the superstructure. The forward helipad is an

feeling of space in this full-beam cabin – a great spot for a private breakfast. DATA LOA: 72.60m. Beam: 12.23m. Exterior/interior: H2 Yacht Design. Guests: 12. Crew: 18. Range: 4,000nm @ 15 knots. Contact: Proteksan. Website: www.proteksan-turquoise.com

hampshire II

Feadship T Central Berth 39 Why is she so special? Built for an experienced Feadship owner who clearly loves his sport, Hampshire II uses outdoor spaces very differently. The yacht’s giant helicopter landing deck forward can be transformed into a space for football, basketball, tennis, baseball and badminton – a giant net is set up around the deck to ensure balls don’t end up over the side.

Highlights of the contemporary interior by Redman Whiteley Dixon include a British-style bar on the bridge deck. The yacht is being managed by Edmiston. Look out for Outdoor fun wherever you turn. Above the sundeck is a crow’s nest reached by a two-person elevator. For thrill-seekers, a zip wire can be connected to the mast so guests

can glide to the water. Hampshire II also has side balconies and a phenomenal beach club with two platforms that open up either side. DATA LOA: 78.50m. Beam: 12.70m. specified. This is certainly a yacht that has put much emphasis on outdoor spaces: dining on the sundeck is nicely shaded and there is a hot-tub forward, while on the bridge deck there is more space for informal dining. The owner’s suite is forward on the main deck. Since her delivery in May the yacht has cruised the Mediterranean and has proved a muchsought-after charter choice. Photograph: Klaus Jordan

Why is she so special? The latest Nadara 45 from the Admiral Tecnomar Group is Ouranos. The composite planing yacht packs a lot of power, with the twin 2,720kW MTUs delivering a punchy top speed of 29 knots and a comfortable cruise at 25. Guests won’t have any reason to complain: the Admiral Tecnomar Group assures us that the sound readings on board came in much lower than the contract

Look out for The blue carinthia hull. It looks seamanlike and Ouranos will certainly catch the eye at top speed. DATA LOA: 44.50m. Beam: 8.30m. Exterior/interior: Centro Stile Admiral Tecnomar.
