icking up the pen at the age of 12, Chaz Burney, also known as Psycho Pilla, developed a strong liking for writing songs as his passion grew deeply for music. Travelling from state to state gave Pilla an opportunity to experience many different walks of life and encounter diverse cultures. Pilla was heavily influenced by his military family and an older brother who wrote music daily; Pilla followed in his brother’s footsteps closely. As his passion for music grew, he also became fascinated with his brother’s night life; which led him to becoming gang affiliated at the age of 15. Although Pilla was a pretty good student, he found himself constantly in trouble. His criminal behavior sent him back and forth in the court system which almost landed him federal time. Fortunately, there wasn’t sufficient evidence to convict him on any charges. When his brother’s throat was cut by the same gang that he was affiliated with, Pilla decided to quit the gang scene. He made up his mind that, “You can be a one man Army; instead of riding for an existence that isn’t all the way 100% loyal”. Psycho Pilla became his name as he chose to take his craft and passion seriously in 1999. Psycho, was chosen because
his styles are crazy, and Pilla stands for “Pray Infinitely Lord is Liable to Answer”, a bold statement. His first group out of Chicago, Illinois was called “Fin Elite Squad”, which would explain his fast rapping abilities. Upon returning to Georgia, he formed a group called “D.P.S” meaning, Dead President Society, with ex-military friends Wayne C, Da Coach and Latex. While grinding as a solo artist and doing shows throughout the region, Pilla linked up with DJ Neko of MBM, Coast to Coast & Slip N Slide DJs elites and pinned remixes and songs on mixtapes to include Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, and Blood Raw. Pilla has also been featured on songs with multi-platinum artists TI & Gucci Mane. In 2005, Pilla was back and forth hustling and grinding CDs and doing shows when bumping into the city’s well known, Absolute tha Truth. While forming an effective and strong promo team, Pilla joined Lute on the road and quickly recognized the same grind and passion that he had for music. While affiliated with family ties Gutta Records Ent., founded by Jiggolo Joe, Sapp Reefa & Crosby Lanham and sponsored by Eightball & MJG, Pilla expanded his grind and network in the ATL area. Before a collaboration CD could be formulated, Money Rome was murdered in Columbia, SC and Lil Hip was in
and out of incarceration, Jiggolo Joe, fiancé’ of Pastor Troy’s artist Rhonda (Help Me Rhonda) passed which eventually left only Sapp Reefa on the label. Tired of ups and downs of the industry, Absolute formulated a master plan starting up a record label called, No Deal Entertainment, and quickly applied knowledge and skills to market while teaming up with Red Hott Records, a mutual business partner’s company. With the grind and rank after helping move over 20,000 units only counting Georgia, Pilla would get elected as Vice President of No Deal Ent. Features such as “Cook Up” on DJ Khaled’s titled “Boss Status” mixtape by Absolute, shows his lyrical capability and diversity as he rides the track to perfection. His first album, Psycho Pilla “Til the World Blow”, only warmed up the city streets but when he dropped “305 meets 706” he sold over 15,000 units out the trunk and continued to appear almost everywhere from Georgia to Florida setting stages and corners on fire with his impeccable grind to move crowds as well as CDs. In late April 2011, Absolute opened a studio in Augusta, Georgia to bring together all of the motivated and most active record label bosses of the city. After a collaborative meeting with the heads of 6 record labels, a title was voted on to become the now well known & growing Powerhouse Muzik Ent. Being that strength comes
in numbers, the name would perfectly fit the team in its entirety. The company now functions like an umbrella family effect; showcasing Street Skrilla Ent, No Deal Ent, FE Ent, Red Hott Records, Kang Koopa, and the Phantom Muzik Group.

At age nine he made his first public performance at a get together in the local park. By the time Wayne made it to the seventh grade he knew their was no turning back. This whole hip-hop thing went from something to do to a way of life. With his newly formed group South Kamp he took the southern independent scene by storm. South Kamps first single South Geoi landed S-Wayne and his group a record deal with All-Net Records. This was a huge move for South Kamp as All-Net Records was owned and operated by a well known NBA player. Two and a half years and 30 songs later All-Net Records folded. IAMU:was up primo how are you doing? What it do, folk, what it is, maintainin', you know how we do! IAMU: where are you from? Planet Carolina, southern hemisphere IAMU: Cool so what inspired you to become a rapper I was prone to outbursts, and I love music! Once when I was young I saw a talent show and this guy did a rap, and I was like "that's pretty cool, I think I can do that!" And now I do it. Power of the mind. Put your mind to something and you will always accomplish it. IAMU: Do you try to support other SC rappers on the come up as you? I support those who support me. Period. And I got a list, I know who you are! IAMU: How did you get your name? I used to kick it with this Cuban dude, and he used to always say "Primo, primo, primo" So people thought that was my name. In reality, "primo" means "cousin" in Spanish, so he was really saying "Whaddup cuz!" (laughs out loud)
And Starr represents the center star on the rebel flag, which is South Carolina. Also, Primo means "one" and in certain cultures the star represents the child, and I'm one child. My mama ain't had no more puppies, and my daddy ain't had no more puppies, it was just me! IAMU: what was it like for you growing up in SC? Hard. Racist. Confusing. Stressful. Where I'm from in SC specifically, it is the only place in the world that has a world-famous Ku Klux Klan museum, so that should give you an idea of the type of attitudes that I face towards my appearance daily. Crazy part about it is, I love everybody. I may have one of THE most diverse camps in all of hip hop. IAMU: when can we expect some new music from you? June 15th!! "D-Evil's Advocate." IAMU: ok cool so with that being said is there a particular single we need to listen out for? As a matter of fact, two of 'em - "Say Hello To
My Life" and "Mollywood." IAMU: last but not least do you have any shout outs to give? Yep, shout out to all the haters, you are my motivation I appreciate you! Second, I'd like to shout out Next Level neck bezzle, JKnight, Nina German, Born of Eve!! Shout out to all emcees on the planet that's tryna get it in right

Tamika Guy-Thurston Rick Ross, Lil’ Wayne, Tyga, Meek Mills, YG, Ace Hood, Two Chainz and anyone else of this ilk disgusts me. These “artists/ entertainers” view women as receptacles for their poles and DNA deposits. They rap about screwing women who are nameless - except for “bitch” and faceless as they hit it “from the back” except when they want her to “choke on it”. If this doesn’t qualify as rape then what is it? It is rape of the female spirit when we are nothing more than things they acquire, less precious than their money, jewelry and cars. These “artists” hide behind the veil of “entertainment” as their lyrics corrupt the minds of our sons and daughters who think life is about fast money and outrageous dangerous behaviors that are ok as long as you say YOLO after it. I thought it real interesting that Rick Ross’s comment to you ended with “money up”. Thanks for validation, Rick. Thanks for being a voice, Kendra. Sela Lewis But here’s another thought. It’s not that it’s “just music.” It’s terrible music by a fraud, a fake. When The Notorious B.I.G.
rapped about robbing selling drugs so he can feed his daughter, he also rapped about being paranoid and having suicidal thoughts. What he did was paint a rather unglamorous picture of small- and mid-scale drug life. Those songs may not have turned some away from the drug game, but at least they were given an honest portrait of the risks that come with dealing drugs. Ross, on the other hand, has completely lifted the legend of the real “Freeway” Rick Ross, and supplanted it onto himself; someone who used to work in a system that is supposed to reform drug traffickers. What he has presented us is a minstrel show of the “black gangsta rapper.” This is truly heartbreaking because guys like him get easily confused with every other black man with a mic in hand.
