“I think all the students who attended the talk would agree that it was a fascinating insight on the world of engineering that left everyone wanting to know more. I am now considering if I want to be an engineer. A former pupil at the school, Mr Alexander Doey and his colleague, Ms Emily Stagg, explained how engineering spans a vast range of jobs and careers, from aerospace to thermodynamics and chemical engineering. They both work at RED, an award-winning company that specialises in building services and ICT engineers.

The talk primarily focused on their roles at RED as well as their path from school to university. They talked about data centres and their importance in our society. These are dedicated buildings that store data from all around the world from all our applications. They spoke about the problem of cooling down the servers, which produce lots of heat. RED is also on a sustainability journey so are working on how this heat can be used to heat our homes. This sounds very exciting, and something I would want to hear more about in the future .”
