Villarreal found it a bit more difficult to get into the game, but as the minutes went by, began to establish themselves on the field. Before reaching the half-hour mark, Villarreal did the hardest thing with their first chance; taking the lead at Gdansk Stadium. From a free-kick, Gerard was determined to make history and beat De Gea by finishing off an excellent ball from Dani Parejo into the heart of the box.
